woman-happy-laptopIt’s a small world, isn’t it?

How many times have you heard the above expression lately? More and more often, right? The truth is that the world has shrunk. Today, the Information Age has shaped the way we think, the way we communicate and the way we live. Thanks to the rapid global communications and networking, any piece of information can circle the globe in seconds and ideas can be exchanged instantly with people half the world away.

Sharing plays an important role in our lives. Since little kids, when toys had to be shared with siblings and friends, people have been encouraged to share: material stuff (food, money, accommodation, etc.) as well as non-material things (information, ideas, advice, knowledge, etc.).

And regardless of whether we like it or not, now the social networks have made the process of sharing any piece of content easier than saying your own name.

Why take the time to write a moving review

Give and you shall receive

If you possess a piece of information that seems valuable and you share it with other people so that they can benefit from it as well, then you will become a two-time winner. You’ve won once because you will get the complete sense of satisfaction that only selfless acts bring. And you’ve won twice because by providing useful and timely information, you’re entitled to receive help yourself the next time you need it. This is the way things usually balance themselves out – you give in order to receive.

Responsibility

Each of us has a responsibility to contribute for a better world for us and our children.
Each of us has a responsibility to contribute for a better world for us and our children.

Humans will always be a part of something bigger, greater and higher. And each of us has a pre-destined role in life and a responsibility to contribute for a better world for us and our children.

Let’s say you’ve had a very good experience with a particular moving company – a trouble-free, smooth, honest relocation from beginning to end. You feel happy for having found (or being recommended) such a trustworthy mover and that everything has gone according to plan. Wouldn’t you like to spread the word and let others know that there is a reliable moving company out there which they could use should the need arise?

On the other hand, you may have had a really bad relocation where things just didn’t work as expected. For example, your moving company may have been terribly late on the moving day, or it may have never arrived in the first place. The guys may have been rude or done a poor packing or loading job. Your belongings may have been damaged or even stolen, or you may have been scandalously overcharged. The bad case scenarios can be endless. And yet, it’s your obligation to raise a warning flag, tell your unfortunate story and save somebody else a headache or two – you never know who might be taking your piece of advice and actually using it.

Regulatory power

The strength of an online community grows in direct proportion to the number of its members. And at times, such large circles of individuals can exert great power and influence in order to reach a specific common goal. For instance, strong communities can do a good job of regulating the local moving market by greatly diminishing the role of rogue movers in certain areas. And naturally, writing honest reviews about specific relocation occurrences is a great way to fight any moving injustice.

Dispute solver

Your sincere account of what your moving company has done wrong may provoke them to try and settle any unresolved issues.
Your sincere account of what your moving company has done wrong may provoke them to try and settle any unresolved issues.

If you have an unresolved issue with your moving company, your sincere account of what they have done wrong may prompt them to contact you again and try to settle that issue adequately. After all, nobody likes to be criticized or to receive negative feedback. Therefore, writing a moving review may only prove beneficial for you.

Sympathetic ear

Regardless of whether it’s something good or bad, most people feel the need to share what has happened to them. Unburdening yourself from what’s weighing on your mind is a psychological method that’s been proven to work. Narrating your seamless move experience will make you feel good about potentially helping somebody else, while telling your unfortunate relocation story will help you do that and vent some steam off at the same time.

What to observe when writing a moving review

Here are some main points to consider before you tell the world about your moving experience and rate the services of the moving company you have chosen:

  • Provide as many details about your moving experience as possible. However, try not to overdo it since people tend to avoid reading very long reviews.
  • Strive to achieve maximum objectivity so that your review looks more trustworthy. If possible, avoid getting too personal or over-emotional while describing what has happened.
  • Mind your spelling and grammar – reviews with numerous spelling and grammar mistakes are hard to read and may make people take your story less seriously.

How to write a moving review

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to actually post an effective online review about your mover:

These steps will guide you safely through the process of posting a moving review online.
These steps will guide you safely through the process of posting a moving review online.

Step 1: Start by making sure you have spelled the name of your mover correctly. There are many moving companies with similar names and a misdirected negative review would be totally unfair to any of them.

Step 2: Usually this step asks for basic facts about your move: starting and final points of the relocation, date and final price of the move, condition of your goods at delivery, etc. This information is very important and gives readers a general idea of the nature of your relocation.

Step 3: When rating the services of your mover from poor to excellent, be as honest as possible. Things you will be asked to rate may include: honesty, professionalism, promptness (reliability), communication (customer service), appearance, value, etc. Also, you will probably be encouraged to give them an overall rating (usually up to 5 stars).

Step 4: And then comes the white box where you need to tell your happy or sad relocation story. The first thing you are advised to do is to write your narrative in a chronological order: begin from the moment you have contacted the moving company and work your way until the moment your goods have been delivered (if that is the end of the story). Otherwise, readers may get confused and not fully understand the message you’re trying to get across.

Then, you may follow your own train of thoughts in a logical progression, or use the example questions below as guidelines:

  • First impression: An important overall criterion which can be based on a number of factors.
  • Before the move: What was your first contact like? Were they polite on the phone? Did they answer all of your questions to your satisfaction? Did they provide you with all the necessary documents, including the Bill of Lading?
  • Moving day: Did they arrive on time? If not, how late were they? Did your mover bring the right packing materials and equipment? Did your movers appear neat and professional? Were they courteous and well-mannered? Did they work hard? How carefully were they handling your household goods? Did they finish in a timely manner?
  • Delivery: Were your household items delivered on time? What about their condition after the move? Was anything damaged, broken or missing? Did they request the previously negotiated price or did they overcharge you?
  • After the move: If you had an unresolved issue with the moving company, how did they handle it? Will you use the services of the mover again? Will you recommend the same moving company to friends and neighbors, and why?

Step 5: The next step is to provide your basic contact information, such as your name (or nickname) and your email address.

Thank you for submitting your moving review.
Thank you for submitting your moving review.

Step 6: The final step for you is to press the PREVIEW & SUBMIT button, which will enable you to view your entire review the way it will be published online. You can go over it once again and edit any piece of information that needs to be corrected. And then, once you’ve verified that your moving review is exactly as you wish it to be, click the SUBMIT REVIEW button.

Step 7: Please make sure the email address that you have provided is valid because you will receive there an activation link – just follow it and your moving review will be successfully posted.

If you feel that your voice won’t be heard even if you spare several minutes of your time to write a moving review, then think about all the times you have found useful information on the web – maybe the author of that information has been hesitant to provide it, just like you are now. Please note that a few minutes of your time now may save another human being, in another part of the world, hours and even days of trouble. Your moving review alone can make all the difference!

  1. I wrote a review. But I can’t post it. Too afraid of retribution. After our horrible move, and just after our BBB complaint, our mailbox was bashed all up. Then, after a response to BBB inquiries, our huge iron front gate was smashed in by none other than a very large metal piece as high as those on the back of moving trucks. It was a painful process to get all of this fixed. If you read my complaint, you would see that the movers were absolute thugs, and it should be known. If they could not see the review, but consumers could, it would be a different story. I can’t go through any more of this, but want people to know how deceitful and animalistic they were. Thugs is the most appropriate word.

  2. Is there any way we can flag a review? the review was very opposite to my experience in a moving company.

  3. Zip to Zip movers were horrible. Multiple items were broken, Lenox dishes, arm off a chair, legs broken off of furniture, custom made upholstered chair leg broken. Stay away from this company. I was given an estimate and the final price was over $1100 more. I was horrified to see the damage that was done. It was extremely upsetting. Would definitely not recommend this company. I’m surprised they are still in business.

  4. When you are where you need to choose a moving company, LONG DISTANCE RELOCATION GROUP you’ll want to stay away from!!!!! This so call 5* company has been the nightmare from “hell” in my move.
Right now I have furniture items that were moved with mine, they have been with me for 2wks and this company has made no arrangement of getting these items to the original owners!
This company avoids any communication to resolve any matter but, demand that you make the payments required in the contract.
Items may be broken upon arrival and signs of rodents being present shows what care your items are given.
This company is far from being 5*

  5. Well, if you think you couldn’t have found a company that epitomizes all that is wrong with moving companies and their well deserved awful reputations (constantly lying, overcharging rates, damaging/losing/disrespecting clients and their property, ducking and NOT returning calls etc, etc) you’re wrong. You HAVE FOUND the company that encompasses all of that and more… CAL RELOCATION SYSTEMS Commerce, CA (US DOT: 3192271 MC: 137515) Indulge me while I tell you how this SCAM ‘company’ plays this game…
First, you put out on the web information for bids to help you move to another state. You will get calls from all over the country looking to get your business. In this case, we got a call from ‘Tom’ (senior sales consultant) who explained what their process was, how it was going to work and what kinds of changes we could make during the whole process. Nice guy, good conversationalist, BSer (tells us he’s not a broker, is an old military guy [so am I], has his own fleet, blah, blah, blah, he would make a good used car salesman). After we decided to go with these guys, we proceeded to write up an estimate for our move which was an approximation of typical homes of our size to determine the amount and size of boxes needed and probable amount of furniture. We also listed some larger items such as work benches, desks, a tool chest, exercise equipment, extra large TV with entertainment center and some loose ‘bulk’ items such as garden tools and musical equipment. As this was a fluid situation that according to ‘Tom’ could be changed at any time according to our needs, we made some adjustments to minimize the amount of stuff we were taking as we were being charged by the cubic foot of space used. That said, ‘Tom’ guesstimated 20 large boxes, 50 medium boxes, 13 small boxes and 2 wardrobe boxes to go with all the other items we discussed. ‘Tom’ was very accommodating, very accessible (even gave us his direct line phone number) right up until we gave him our deposit, that’s when all the accessibility ended and the clown show began…
As we got closer to the moving date my wife and I had more questions as we were packing our own boxes and put in a call to ‘Tom’. We left messages on his direct line but were never called back. Instead, we were contacted by ‘Cindy’ who was going to be the new contact to answer questions. We insisted to talk to ‘Tom’ since he never called back and she said “he was on another line but would call us back in about an hour.” Needless to say, it’s 3 weeks later and we’re still waiting…
So moving day comes and a box truck shows up with a crew of 3 and an ‘overseer’ named ‘Armin’ who was walking around putting little (smaller than a postage stamp) numbered stickers on the boxes, furniture and other items to be loaded on the truck. The crew were very nice, careful wrapping furniture and handling delicate items, did a nice job. As the truck was being loaded to about 2/3 full, ‘Armin’ told my wife he thought that the estimate was “off” and that it was going to be more cubic feet than they quoted. She got upset and came and got me and I started to get after ‘Armin’ and tell him he was full of it as we were WAY under the amount of boxes that were quoted (they quoted 20 lrg, we used 13 – they quoted 50 med, we used 28 – they quoted 13 small, we used 7 – they quoted 2 wardrobe boxes, we used 0) and eliminated furniture such as a king size box spring, mattress and stand as well as a 73” projection tv and large entertainment center which was taken by our daughter. So as he could see and hear that I was getting angrier by the minute he said he would make a call and “see what he could do” about it. He tried to tell me it was a software issue (which is NOT our problem, any REPUTABLE company would honor their quote) which I told him was BS and a crappy program if it was “off” by 400 cubic ft to which he said it was the ‘best’ the industry had. As someone who has used computer applications for 26 years I told him ANY program that far off would be scrapped in a heartbeat if it was that inaccurate, but that was all part of THEIR SCAM. So add ANOTHER 400 cubic ft to the cost of the move according to ‘Jim’ who ‘Armin’ called to try to calm me down because “they go by cubic ft, pure and simple.” They get almost all of your crap on the truck, you gotta get out of the house, what are you gonna do? They got you by the cajones, you gotta move and get to another closing, so… nice SCAM!
But wait! There’s more! Now that we got jacked for $1800.00 MORE than the quote because of their clever SCAM, we wait for our furniture to arrive. We get a call 2 days past our original delivery date, the driver proceeds to tell us he called his crew and is awaiting their reply but was on his way and had to stop at a Home Depot to buy a new moving dolly because he broke his on the last delivery. When he arrived about 2 hours later ‘Yaz’ told us he hadn’t heard from the other guys yet but he was going to start unloading himself. Well, the others never showed up! ‘Yaz’ proceeded to put boxes on the tailgate (rented Enterprise truck, so much for the fleet ‘Tom’ talked about) and lowered them to the garage. Many were upside down, smashed and/or broken open. I told him to just put them in the garage and stack them neatly so my wife and I could get to them later and unpack them. When he started to unload the furniture and other wrapped items MY WIFE AND I had to unwrap them once he got them off! When he got to the couches, I had to go across the street to my new neighbor whom I never met and ask him for help (how embarrassing) to get the furniture in the house as I’m 68 years old with a bad back which is why I hired movers in the first place! On the way to the front threshold ‘Yaz’ lost his grip on the couch and smashed a dent on the siding of the doorway (so much for the new house). He also knocked over a bookcase in a bedroom that smashed into a wall that took a chunk of the drywall out! There are pieces missing from a NordicTrak treadmill that we still don’t know how damaged it is. And to top it all off, he dropped my metal workbench off the tailgate and buckled ALL the legs! What a MORON! Then he tried to say it was like that when he moved it from the back of the truck, so he’s a LIAR too just like ‘Tom’, ‘Cindy’, ‘Armin’, ‘Jim’ and probably everyone else who works there. SCAMMERS ALL…
It gets better… ‘Yaz’ then had the audacity to ask (beg) my wife to not tell the office that the rest of the crew was a NO SHOW so he could pocket ALL the money for the job because he KNEW we were pissed and weren’t about to tip him. Oh, I’m STILL missing an 8’ aluminum ladder along with a 5’ wooden ladder that were taped and wrapped together that ‘Armin’ put his useless little sticker on as well as at least 4 boxes that are missing. But we DO have a tote full of SOMEBODY’S China that has no name OR sticker on it. (ALL of our boxes and totes had OUR name on them) My wife called the office and a lady answered the phone (she didn’t get her name) from customer service. My wife explained briefly the issues we were having and she said that she was helping cover the customer service calls but she normally works in payroll. She said she was happy that SHE took the call so that she could stop ‘Yaz’ from claiming he had a crew to unload our belongings so he could pocket the crews pay as well. She said that ‘Yaz’s’ supervisor was out of the office and she would make SURE he called us back. Needless to say, we are still waiting for that call. We called again and couldn’t get anyone to answer the phone. My wife called ‘Jim’s’ cell number and he was upset because he wasn’t in the office. He was rude on the phone and kept coming back with excuses. He claimed he would be in the office in an hour and would call us back. My wife made sure he had our phone number. AGAIN, we are still waiting to hear back from ‘Jim’! Later that night my wife called ‘Tom’s’ direct phone number he provided and he didn’t answer either. My wife left a detailed message explaining all that had transpired until the message cut her off. She called back to finish her message. As of this review NO ONE has returned our calls!! Not only have they lost OUR belongings, but we have someone else’s belongings and the company hasn’t even reached out to us to ask about the boxes that are NOT OURS!! We are trying to do the right thing and get these boxes back to their rightful owners but I guess it costs the company too much money to come get them, and since THEY got THEIR money, THEY couldn’t care less about the clients OR their property.
Bottom line… this company has a well planned and orchestrated SCAM operation. If you want to pay 1½ times the quoted cost of a move, lose 1/3 of your property, damage another 1/3 of your property without even so much as an apology, have YOU unload your own property, then this is your circus. With these clowns, NO one takes responsibility, and they serve plenty of lies. ‘Tom’ is the worst, a guy who claims to have military background must have missed the courses on character, ethics, honor, integrity and competence. If you are looking for a reputable mover, good luck with that, don’t even THINK of looking here! My advice would be to stay as far away from these SCAMMERS (CAL RELOCATION SYSTEMS Commerce, CA (US DOT: 3192271 MC: 137515) as you possibly can, DO NOT WASTE your time or money, PERIOD!!

  6. I finally found such a perfect list that too at a place, I am glad now I don’t need to search things anymore, this is really interesting one, else it would have been really hectic for me to keep searching for more info

  7. I plead and beg everyone reading this review not to use roadrunner moving and storage they’re a bunch of liars and thieves, they will quote you one price in the beginning and on pick up day the money doubled, in my case they turned up one day earlier than planned which makes it very inconvenient for my family since I wasn’t fully ready. They begged me to let them start loading since they’re already there, by the time they finished loading which was half the load the money was almost doubled, and they need half right away which I wouldn’t have till the next day, long story short I had to leave three patio tables 16 patio chairs one lawn mower a almost brand new backyard grill and one lawn chair, my stuff arrived in Florida one month later with a bunch of broken stuff several plates and glasses and also a panosonic DVD CD/ VCR player a brand new Samsung 50″ flat screen TV totally destroyed, the company referred me to the insurance company and until this day which is NINE months later i haven’t been compensated please please please avoid roadrunner moving and storage the transport department is ok I got my car in about a week later but I had to purchase clothing utensils shoes and other major things I needed to survive here, also don’t let them talking you into the package that includes moving away the boxes, bubble wraps and tapes it cost me $185.00 to get someone to remove them before I got fined by the city for it.

  8. I would suggest people to look past Hermann Brothers Moving Company. They will damage almost all your belongings, by booking 1 star rated movers to move your stuff. By the end of your move your stuff will go through 3 or 4 other moving companies. They will give you a great quote and then when the movers finally arrive, they shake you down for another $2600.00. When you leave to have them pack up your boxes they will leave things behind, damage things that you put an emphasis on being very careful with. We were quoted $4900.00 and after all the juicing we got and the movers holding our stuff randsom until we give them more money. We ended up paying around $11,500. I filed a damage claim and then people quit their jobs, putting me on hold, and them never getting back to me. Everything is a sham. DO NOT BOOK THROUGH HERMANN BROTHERS. You will definitely thank me later.
