International move from Springfield, MA to Maple Ridge, BC

Trans Canada Movers

Our move was from Massachusetts to British Columbia. After getting quotes from the big moving companies we landed on Trans Canada Movers. Tammy Reuser, our contact person was always polite, knowledgeable and helpful, especially in such a complicated move. I liked the fact that a Canadian company was doing the whole move; not half States, half Canada. The job they did packing out our stuff was a wonder to see: everything wrapped in mover's quilts. The movers themselves were just as nice and as efficient as Tammy was! In Canada because we had to find a place to buy first, we used their company storage. It was preplanned. Tammy was more than fair about the storage costs AND the first 30 days was free. Not so, with the big companies by the way! And, they were more than generous on our bill, for which we were grateful. On moving day in B.C, the guys came and moved our stuff into our new shack right on time. These guys worked their tails off dealing with heavy boxes, too much furniture, elevators and stairways. Never a complaint from them. Nothing but cheerful talk and hard hard work! I'd give this company a 6 if there was one. Remember. It's a move people. Very complicated. We expected stuff broken or missing. That's part of moving. As it was we were short the feet on our TV which we bought in BC. Don't forget, the deductible is $500 so you've got to be prepared to eat the cost of wear & tear or minor losses. That's part of a move. Ya. I'd use them again with no hesitation. I recommend them to you, especially if you are expats heading back to Canada. They're Canucks!

International move from Palo Alto, CA to Vancouver, BC

Regret using this company

I picked Trans Canada Movers over Canadian Van Lines who quoted half the price for a move from California to BC because they had better reviews. Trans Canada Movers took just as long (6 weeks) to get us our belongings as the reviews for Canadian Van Lines said they would. The communication was terrible, I only found out our things were still in California after 3 weeks after calling and asking to speak to someone else. They charged us $2000 USD over the upper range of our quote. In the end, they also broke the legs off a desk and left our belongings to get really overheated because some things melted. I wasn't really happy with anything and would recommend going with their competitor Canadian Van Lines. At least it will cost half as much for your belongings to take 6 weeks to arrive.

Long-distance move from Toronto, ON to Edmonton, AB

Good Company.

I was relocating from Toronto, ON to Edmonton, AB for work and had a one-bedroom basement apartment that required partial packing services.

The customer service I received from TransCanada Movers (specifically Dennis) was great. He answered all my questions and never pressured me to book my move. The movers arrived on the correct date and packed everything well. My items were delivered later than the date I had requested and I was stuck sleeping on the floor of my new apartment for 4 days; however, the final cost was well within my expectations and closely reflected the original quote.

Areas where this company could improve:

It is nearly impossible to reach dispatch using the phone number provided and they do not call to confirm anything unless you call them numerous times. I had to contact my customer service representative several times to confirm date of delivery.

They sent only three men (one of which sat in the truck) to pack up my belongings which took 6 hours. They also sent only three men (one of which sat in the truck) to unpack everything. This took less time than the packing, but I would suggest that the company send more workers to decrease the amount of time it takes to pack everything.

The movers who delivered my items had no intention of rebuilding the furniture that the original packers had taken apart. When they finally agreed to put everything back together, they didn't know what they were doing and put my bed frame together wrong and warped. Eventually, they figured out the furniture, but I had a handyman come out to ensure the items were put together properly.

A few items were delivered damaged including a sturdy wooden end table that had the leg snapped off completely. I am still in the process of submitting a claim for the items that arrived damaged so I cannot review the damage claim process; however, I felt as though the movers did not really care if they damaged my items or not.

Overall, the move went better than expected (I read some horror stories from reviews of other companies) and the cost was very reasonable for the service I received. I would recommend TransCanada Movers and would consider using them again in the future.

International move from , BC to , CA

Move from Vancouver to Palm Springs.

I hired them to move my household from Delta, B.C. to Palm Springs, Ca. The movers were very professional. The whole move went well, they were relaxed and I was confident in their work. Once there I discovered that I had brought too many furnishings. In the end the company said to just wait until they were in the area again and they would stop by and pick it up to return back to Canada. It worked out very well.

Long-distance move from Airdrie, AB to Oshawa, ON

Best mover so far.

Excellent, professional service. We made a last minute booking the day before the move and everyone was more than accommodating. By the following afternoon all our stuff was moved. Bed was wrapped in plastic at no extra charge, staff were all very polite and friendly. And even shuffled furniture around for us at the new place to get it exactly where we wanted it. Wonderful service, we will definitely be using this company for all our moves. And price was definitely reasonable for saving us all the trouble and effort. Thank Dennis and his great team on site.

Long-distance move from Quebec to British Columbia

Horrible after sale service.

I waited a while prior to writing this review. But enough is enough. We are Oct. 10, 2015 and I'm still awaiting a formal acurate invoice. Move in was mid-July.
Let's first start at the beginning. The move was from Quebec to BC. I filled up a quote form on their website. Not 24 hours later I had 3 quotes. Not one from them! Safety issues on the website. Then I got a call from another company (Transatlas) and was told they were an OK company, but not as much as Trans Canada Movers. So I booked with Trans Canada. Tammy was being super nice, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Prior to move out, everything was super smooth. Excellent service I told myself. Then it turned sour.
The company that moved out was.. Transatlas!! The guys were nice, no complaints eventhough my furniture was pretty heavy. After they picked up, then it became tougher to have answers. I couldn't have a delivery date. And the guy picking up the phone was not a happy camper.
Finally move in day came. The guys kept whining. I decided to help them! Lots and I mean lots of scratches and dents. 3 rare and expensive wine bottles broken. 4 flat tires on 2 bicycles. All small things you can't file a claim for but in the end it adds up. But the icing on the cake is not being able to have an invoice with accurate info.

I do not recommend them. Or they should change Quebec partner because it's a joke. But not a funny one.

Long-distance move from British Columbia to Quebec

Avoid at all Costs.

An absolute [EDIT] show of a company. Save yourself the time and money and look elsewhere for movers.

I moved from Vancouver to Quebec. Initial time estimate was 2-3 weeks. Two weeks passed by without a word from them, I called and they informed me I would receive a call within a few days to get the new delivery estimate. After an entire week, I called again and was given the same exact response. I proceeded to call again everyday for 4 days only to be told that the van was in Toronto (for over a week?).

The calls were all over the place. Nobody was taking responsibility, nobody was giving me any concrete details about my items. Dispatch was extremely rude and provided no help whatsoever. Half the time I was thinking my items were actually stolen.

Eventually I stopped calling and informed them that I would need a 48 hour notice to comply with the building's code. Meanwhile I had to book a room and pay extra $500 for the 2 extra weeks they took. After yet another week I called (I initiated the call) and was told the van would be there in less than 48 hours. The day of, the delivery was delayed yet 2 more days.

Upon delivery I was not given instructions, but was almost penalized for not reserving a delivery spot right in front of the building. They claimed that a 10 second walk was "long delivery" and demanded extra payment. They double parked and I had to help them move the items so that they wouldn't get fined.

After unboxing my items, I discovered that my 65" TV's screen was broken. For the record, the TV cost me $1500 without tax, will cost $900 to fix, and was one of the main reasons I opted to move my items. I should mention that I gave specific instructions on multiple occasions that this item was very important. After submitting the claim, I was told that they can only pay out $250.

So ultimately this move cost me double what it should have.

International move from Burnaby, BC to Seattle, WA

Having to move daughter from Canada to USA during COVID.

I would give them 10 stars if I could!!

My daughter attended SFU and was a senior this year. As a result, her apartment lease was up May 31, 2020.

Because of COVID and the border restrictions, we were unable to help her move back to the USA before the end of her lease.

Conor, Patty, and Trans Canada Movers were AMAZING!! Easy to contact, easy to work with, understanding, punctual, helpful and extremely professional! And no hidden costs! It helped that I emailed pictures of her stuff ahead of time to get an accurate quote.

My daughter's stuff arrived perfect - everything was carefully wrapped and wonderfully cared for! I highly recommend without ANY hesitation!!

International move from Vancouver, BC to Burbank, CA

Moving countries during a pandemic!

My daughter accepted a job and moved to Burbank at the end of February 2020. She had to move her possessions from her Vancouver apartment by the middle of March. During these two weeks the situation in Canada and the US escalated quickly in regards to the pandemic. Trans Canada Movers were sympathetic and able to pick up her stuff with four days notice! Even when her flight was cancelled in order to be there for the move (thank goodness a friend was there for this) they returned in the afternoon to collect her paperwork after she arrived. During these stressful days, all of the people we communicated with were calming and reassuring. Her possessions were delayed because of the border closure, which was understandable, but she received everything in good order on March 29th.

Highly recommend TransCanada Movers!

Long-distance move from Hamilton, ON to Vancouver, BC

Moving from Hamilton Ontario to Vancouver BC

After my mother in law died in Ontario we had to move a large number of family heirlooms to the Vancouver area. Trans Canada Movers were recommended by a friend and I connected with Tammy Reuser, their moving consultant, at the office in Delta. Tammy couldn't have been nicer and more helpful answering all my phone calls and putting up with the many questions I had. I was nervous as I had never done this type of move before and many of the items were delicate. They came through the Polar Vortex with flying colors. Every item arrived in perfect shape. The packers in Hamilton, Emre , and crew, were meticulous and packed all the goods, large and small with great attention to detail. Then on the Vancouver end Seridoun and crew delivered and helped unpack the large items with such care and precision; we were so impressed by their professionalism and attention to detail and efficiency. I highly recommend Trans Canada Movers. They did an excellent job for us. 5 Stars for sure!
