Long-distance move from Alabama to Texas

Social Moving Group-Rude and Unprofessional from the Owner, driver.

Owner (Jay according to the Driver), dispartcher (Ben, also a manager), the driver were extremely rude and unprofessional!  Owner was threatneing me (as a client) to pay his driver or else he would put my stuffs on Auction when they came late and came on the Sunday where they expected to get the money order from a Postal Office (Which Postal Office is open on Sunday on this Earth?!). Lisa (the sale rep) sold the moving package to me to move from Mobile AL to The Woodlands TX for $1673 and the date to pick up items was Sunday, 7/8/12 but didn't show up until Tuesday 7/10/12 after several calls to their company.  When they came to pick up stuffs, they charged another 225$ extra for the same list of items! The deliver date supposed to be Saturday 7/14/12 but no ones or any phone calls received.  I called the dispatcher (Ben) and he told me the truck would deliver on Monday/Tuesday (7-16/7-17).

On Sunday, the driver called and told me that they are on the way to my apartment.  With short notice and being on Sunday, I couldn't get the Money order from Postal Office.  Once the driver got to the apartment, I asked them either except personal check or come back on Monday/Tuesday like they have told me.  The driver rudely said, no!  I'll go back to Georgia!  I was like fine!  5 min later he came back and held me the phone with his owner on the other like yelled and me and threatnening to put my stuffs on Auction if I don't pay his driver!  I ran out of my patience by then from late pickup/deliver then charged extra and for his rudeness!  I told him go ahead and put them on auction but i'll get everything back from them and more! With the help from BBB.org (Better Business Bureau), they delivered my stuffs on Monday afternoon but charged me another $200.

I didn't agree to pay but I was tired so I went ahead and paid.  the two helpers were really nice unloading and unpacking all my stuffs but they driver were cussing and helping to put my bed togther but he was banging on it and cussing while putting it together. he ended up broke two of my bed legs! and my sofa, my chaise louge and end table were damaged!  Before they finished all the unpacking, they took off bc the driver was rushing the other two helpers.  I took pictures of the truck and driver and the driver started to cuss at me and ran off! Do not make the same mistake that I made.  They will not post any negative reviews.

I based on one good review from Phillip but I believe that might have been one of the inside the campany personel posted that!  Do not hire SOCIAL MOVING GROUP to move you stuffs.  They dont' worth any of your time and they don't deserve to get your business!  If anyone wants to know more info about this company, don't hesitate to email me, i'll be gladly tell you more about this company!  Stay Away from SOCIAL MOVING GROUP.  They still haven't reponded to my email for asking for my damaged items!

Long-distance move from Georgia to Florida

Great Job!

This company was great start to finish. Lisa was very helpful in figuring out how much I had. The movers were friendly and on time. for 1500.00 the definitely got my money's worth. They picked me up at 8 am as requested and had it on the truck well within the 3 hours they said it would take and when they delivered 3 days later they were on time and set my beds up and had the truck unpacked in less then 3 hours and were very careful not to damage my furniture and valuables. My final price was right on the money and they did not try to stick additional charges on my bill.

Long-distance move from South Carolina to Kansas

Worst moving company ever!!

I wish I could give 0 stars. We used Social Moving Group, dispatched through US Express relocation. At first we we're rushed to change our moving date 4 days early so our furniture would get to our destination on the date we choose. So that already gave us 1 week on an air mattress. Then on the date we were suppose to receive our furniture we called, to confirm the time the truck would arrive, just to find out the truck barely moved from the previous location. Days later: dodged calls and an email confirming that our truck is in transit. A week after the actual date we were supposed to receive our furniture, we were told that the truck hadn't in fact moved, and that our furniture will be loaded a week later. We had to deal with rude dispatcher, who wouldn't give us the company's name and referred to the owner as John Smith. Rude and sexist drivers, yelling at us and unwilling to speak to me, seeing as that I'm a woman and emotional (his words). Now 4 weeks after loading the truck and 3 weeks after the date we were supposed to receive our furniture, it arrives: broken and missing items. We will see how we will be reimbursed. Let me warn you!! WORST MOVING COMPANY EVER!! Stay away!!

Service cost: $1700

Long-distance move from North Carolina to Texas

Terrible experience.

Attached PDF

I had a terrible experience with US Expressrelocation AKA Social Moving Group. Everything seemed fine during the time I booked this company until it was time to move. First we agreed on 03/12/16 to 03/13/16 as the move date. I was surprised to get a call from Ben on the morning of Friday 03/11/16 telling me that their driver was soon to arrive at our apartment for the move. There was no one home since that wasn't what we had agreed upon and this was communicated to Ben. Long story short, they almost didn't move our things on the agreed date until I had to call them several times as Ben claimed that their driver couldn't return to NC though it wasn't our fault the driver stopped by on a day earlier than when we agreed on. Ben eventually found a driver to move our stuff on the evening of Sunday 03/13/16. Upon arrival of our stuff on 03/19/16, my husband's laptop had been stolen with some of our moving boxes torn, our clothes and books thrown on the floor among other things. I called Ben to report the situation of our things when they arrived and he revealed that the driver wasn't theirs and they had contracted out our moving. This we never knew about at the time of the move. Ben promised to file a claim regarding this matter. I sent him pictures as proof on 04/03/16 but never heard back from them ever since. This company has left a bitter taste in our mouths when it comes to using movers for a move. My husband and I had more headache dealing with them than we would have should we have done the move ourselves. I DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE RECOMMENDING THIS COMPANY!!
p.s. See attached pictures as proof of the damage done to our stuff.

Long-distance move from Carson, CA to West Palm Beach, FL

Moving Nightmare.

I contacted Ben of Social Moving Group (SMG), Norcross, GA regarding a move from Carson, California to West Palm Beach, Florida. I contacted him because I had previously used this company to move my son from Atlanta, GA to California. During that move Ben came to my son's residence in Atlanta, surveyed the goods, and provided a price estimate. The move went as planned and the price never changed. My son's goods were delivered without any damage. That led me to trust Ben and the company.

Upon my move to Florida, Ben analyzed my goods by telephone. I went from room to room and told him what furniture I wanted to be moved. Ben provided an estimate of $3,900, which included the furniture and up to 75 boxes. I agreed and provided a $500 deposit. Pick up date was scheduled for February 25, 2017. Unbeknownst to me, Ben acted as a broker and subcontracted the job. He never informed me about this. I thought that SMG was picking up and delivering my goods.

On moving day, February 25, another moving company (United Moving & Storage) came to my residence in California, accessed my goods, and said the cost would be $8,000. Words cannot explain the anguish and betrayal I felt. I told the representative from United that I could not afford to pay $8,000. The United rep told me than Ben had charged me an high rate at $7.00 per square cubic feet, and that my goods would require twice the space provided in the estimate. The United rep and Ben were on the phone on and off for about an hour before the United rep indicated that $6,000 was the final price. I initially said no, but eventually agreed because everything had been packed and my plane to Florida was leaving in just a few days. I didn't have time to find another company. I had to pay one half of the balance at that time.

I called Ben. I was livid. He basically told me that I could have found another company. He said that the United rep indicated I had big furniture. I expressed to him how unfair this was: for a customer to have to experience such a shock on moving day. I questioned him about big furniture as opposed to medium or small furniture, since he never asked me about the size of my furniture. I told him an estimate should never be $2,000 more than a quote. I expressed how unprofessional and deceptive this is.

My goods arrived on March 10th by a company called Honest and True Moving. I have no idea how many times my goods have been transferred from one location to another. Much of my furniture is heirlooms of high value. My furniture arrived on March 10th. My furniture was damaged to a degree where some of it had to be trashed. The movers from United wrapped tape on my antique leather sofa and chair. The color came off when the movers from Honest and True Moving removed the tape. The movers indicated that the furniture was poorly packed and should have been wrapped in plastic, and not taped. The leather on my furniture was aged as if it had been outdoors in extreme weather for an extended period of time. The box spring of my king sized mattress was so filthy until I had to trash it. A leg was broken and the frame was cracked on my antique chair. A leg was broken on my metal table. A leg was broken on my nightstand table and the marble top was also broken. Two antique mirrors were broken. A decorative tree was destroyed. A vintage floor lamp was broken beyond repair. My brand new lamp shades were destroyed. Additionally, I didn't receive a couple of boxes, and didn't realize it until I had completely unpacked.

I would never recommend this company to anyone. My advice to anyone moving, especially across county, is to hire a full service moving company that will come out and physically access your goods. Inquire into if they will contract the job or do it themselves. I honestly thought that SMG was that type of company, but it is far from it. SMG is an unprofessional and dishonest company. They should have told me that the job was being subcontracted and I would have never used them.

Long-distance move from Atlanta, GA to Greensboro, NC

Do Not Hire.

This company originally is called Social Moving Group and they have renamed themselved to US Express
Relocation to escape the ghost of their bad reviews and C- Better Business Bureau Rating. Before hiring
them, do yourself a favor and check their Better Business Bureau page in the link below. You can verify
what I am saying by looking at the "Alternate Business Names" in the bottom left section.

https://www.bbb.org/atlanta/business-reviews/moving-services-labor-and-materials/social-moving-group-in-norcross-ga-27403821

Basically the reason you should not hire this company is they will break your furniture, charge you hidden fees, embarass you infront of your neighbors,
twist your arm when your furniture is held hostage, charge you for things they did not do and/or refused to do, and only inform you
of a change in delivery or pick up after the delivery is due. In a simple bullet list here is a break down of what happened with me

0. They charge you hidden fees that they only inform you about when your furniture is in the truck. In addition, they make you sign papers that states that
they are not liable if some types of your furniture brakes. You will never hear anything about those papers until you have paid the deposit and your furniture
is in the truck.

1. They lie/change the truth. John claimed to be the owner of the company. Actually he is not. He has little to no power over the movers. In fact, the mover told me he is only a "sales guy". Other
examples are throughout this list.

2. They changed the delivery schedule without informing me of the changes. The driver did not respond to my text when I asked him what time he will be coming
the night before. I only found out of the change by the end of the delivery time window. As a result, I had to incur an extra night of hotel and leave a day
earlier. In addition, I had to hire last minute movers to do a part of the job. The last minute movers were really expensive.

3. They threatened to throw my furniture on the ground when I contacted them with a legitimate billing concern. There was an error in the original bill they
gave me. In addition, due to what happened in 2, they didn't do all of the job. The owner (Ben) who was the only supervisor I could talk to (since the truck driver said he only listens to "Ben" and
that the other person I made the deal with "John" was only a "sales guy") would not pick up the phone when I contacted him with billing concerns. When he finally picked up the phone instead of
either explaining to me why my concerns are wrong or adressing my concerns, he screamed at me over the phone and threatened to throw my furniture on the ground.

4. They broke my furniture. I moved about less than 25 items. In a move from Atlanta to North Carolina, they broke 5 (2 floor lamps, coffee table, bookshelf, dented dryer). In other words,
they broke 20% of the items they moved. Instead of starting my new job with a peace of mind, I have to look for replacement furniture and carry it up myself.
Please see pictures attached to this review. (The driver paid me compensation "out of his pocket" much less than what I had paid to move the items let alone how much they cost.)

First they accused me of lying and that the items were broken from before. They asked me for picture proof from items from before.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwKBUhHaOmg

Then they said its my fault for not buying a box that was not recommended to me. See proof:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6P6UsHw5VBM

5. They are not clean. All over my original location they have left tapes and trash in their path. I had to clean up after them not to be fined by property management.

6. They are bullies. I was yelled at infront of my new neighbors. In addition, at my original location they sent three movers. One of them was not very skilled
in speaking English. Josh was bullying that mover who could not speak English and kept yelling at him in my apartment. At one point the third mover had to
speak to Josh to ease up on that mover.

7. They would not do the job. I had to argue with them to move items that were in the inventory and I was charged for. When they broke some of those items, they
told me its my fault for not adding those items to the inventory (again those items were in the inventory). I had to go around calling three different
people to have them do the job. It was clear they did not want to do the job and were "angry" with John for giving me a price so cheap. The made sure
to mention that a couple of times. The price John gave me was not cheap, in fact I have gotten other quotes that were about 20% cheaper. I still chose them
because I thought there is an advantage to speaking directly with John who I thought he was the owner of the company. Turns out he was just bluffing (as the
mover claims.)

8. When I confronted the mover about my broken items he claimed that they were already like that before. He insisted I need a picture to prove it was not
like that before. After I told him I am going to go after them, he told me its my fault for not adding those items to the inventory list (those items were in the list).

9. They overwork their movers and juice the most money out of them. I feel bad for the movers. They are tasked with more than they can do, but the mover
is the only one I could talk to since he handles paper work and moves at the same time.

Long-distance move from North Carolina to California

Social Moving Group the worst experience.

I am completely disgusted with my experience with Social Moving Group. I had been so certainly Mighty Pricey Movers would provide me with reliable, top-of-the-line service while respecting my time and personal property. To begin they charged my credit card before the pick up date so I couldn’t pay in cash to avoid the credit card costs, even the contract state 50% payment on pick up…. when I complain about it, they were unproffesional and told me “the money doesn’t  go to their pocket”.. Several of my personal belongings were damaged, my furniture  weren’t cover in blankets like they promised and they broke and scratched everything. In the inventory they didn’t detailed what was box, luggage or shoe rack so I had to help to identify my belongs inside the moving truck. Some boxes didn’t have the sticker with the inventory number anymore, My mirror which I packed carefully was completely destroyed, broken in parts and glass everywhere, Every  box smashed, my 7 wardrobe boxes crushed and  my clothes hanging out of them…. It was a completely mess. I called Social Mobing Group to know what should I do in order to file my claim and Ben instead of giving me the information told me “you have to read our email”… I filed a claim with "CLAIMS ADJUSTING FIRM" after 3 months of follow up and 2 days after they told me I should receive a check from Social Moving Group they talked to ben and told me they don't work with them anymore and wrote a settlement that denied my claim because: they don't insure ANY PIECE THAT YOU PACK and ANY FORMICA OR PRESSED WOOD FURNITURE. BEAWARE of this 2 companies SOCIAL MOVING GROUP and CLAIM ADJUSTING FIRM.      .

Long-distance move from Tennessee to Illinois

Worst moving experience of my life.

This was the worst moving experience of my life. For starters, when I first contacted the company, they quoted me a price of about $800 for storing my furniture for free and transporting it from TN to IL. When they came to pick up my furniture, they came in a pick-up truck, with a man named Orrin who was the most uncouth and rude individual I have ever met. They charged me $400 extra for a couple items I had forgotten to mention on the initial list. They did an extremely poor packing job and loaded all of my things onto the pick-up truck. I had given them a date for delivery, and they were 11 days late. My new building required a 5-day notice for movers, and they gave me less than a 24 hour notice that they were arriving. I was calling frequently to figure out when they would arrive, and I got the most vague and rude answers from the company manager in Georgia. The man also was a sexist and extremely offensive. When the furniture finally arrived (I did not actually ever expect it to arrive at that point), the delivery men charged me an extra $115 for the distance from the delivery truck to my front door (counted by the number of steps, which, by the way, I had to confirm ahead of time from my building). Some of the furniture came broken, others scratched, others damp. When asked where a wood chip off my bed came from, the delivery man's answer was: "I don't know and I don't care". While the company guaranteed assembly upon delivery, the delivery men did not even bother to bring a toolbox. We luckily had brought our own. They did not want to assemble the furniture on delivery and instead told me they would return at 9:30 at night. We made them finish the job right then because the last thing I wanted was to ever have to deal with them again. Unreliable, uncouth, and unprofessional. This company is the worst. .

Official company response

We don't have any customer that moved with us on from TN to IL. there is not even a name for reference.
most probably it is a fake customer or a moving company that is trying to take our business.

Long-distance move from Iowa to Nevada

Service.

I am writing this as a warning for any one using this company. We had nothing but problems with this move and a claim that has been filed. It is impossible to do. They request weight on missing items yet how do you weigh a missing item or box? They want estimates for all of the damage and repairs yet every estimate called for they want money to give you an estimate. My husband is permanently disabled from a brain tumor we do not have that money. How do you take pictures of missing items? The company they subcontracted with were so horrible the movers did not even know to follow the red stickers with numbers as to where items belonged. They had a very old ratty truck and when they opened the door my brand new mattress with protective plastic cover fell out of the truck to the ground. I had to demand that they assemble the items that they disassembled per the contract. They put together one poster bed and tried to hide the poster that had been broken and they just set it on. It fell off when I touched it. They refused to take boxes where the belonged and piled in one doorway and wall so high I had to climb over boxes to get out of my kitchen. Told me they were not paid to move things twice, Had to tell them if they had put items which were clearly marked where they belonged we wouldn't be having this problem. Brand new Flex steel furniture was crushed, legs with deep gouges. Dented and scratched washer and dryer. The list goes on. Workers even stole cigarettes and helped themselves to the refrigerator! A whole box of 50 years of accumulated costume jewelry gone. Weight? Who knows its missing. Please be warned and take extra insurance as the 60 cents a pound is a joke! Any one want to weigh a four poster bed, washer, dryer etc? I will continue with my claim but how do you prove anything when workers were so negligent, items missing and they need a weight. It is so sad that we were treated this way and our items treated so poorly. My son was in the USAF and was killed what is the price for his missing flight picture? We are poor and disabled, this move was to allow us sunshine and healing. Don't let the workers rush you through the item checks and minimize the importance of what they are writing. After as I went through the list with a fine tooth comb they had my brand new flex-steel furniture listed as scratched. I called Ben immediately about this and his response was don't worry about it. I do have many pictures and all of the phone calls that I did make.
