Long-distance move from Toronto, ON to Vancouver, BC

Truck caused damage to storage company door

My daughter hired this company for a move from Toronto to Vancouver. Based on her reference we too used them for our move to Vancouver. We hired them in August 2021 and our stuff was in storage till June 2022. Our experience with the sales person Dennis is he is very rude and discourteous. We organised for the company to deliver our stuff to a storage in Vancouver on June 6th, 2022. The truck while doing it damaged the door at the storage. We called Dennis about it and he asked us to take it up with Dispatch at Vancouver. The guys at Dispatch asked us to take it up with Dennis, sales. When I contacted Dennis again he asked me to inform the storage company to make a claim against the insurance of the truck but failed to provide any details of the insurance of the truck. All the while he was very rude while speaking. This is apart from the fee of several thousand dollars that I and my daughter have paid for the move and storage. I strongly do not recommend this company to anybody

Hi Prasad,
Sorry to hear about your recent experience after storing your goods with us for over 6 months and having a damage free move cross country. We do not want to hear that our clients are not fully satisfied with their moving service. We would love to help you for this matter. Please have your storage company call or email us and the insurance company representative will take it from there. We did ask you that information for sometime, however haven't heard back from you. That all being said, any other offers or cash settlement will not be offered from our firm for that storage company's damaged door.

Long-distance move from Burnaby, BC to Markham, ON

Inter-province move

After having a bad experience with other cross country mover, I was a bit worry about the move but Kevin and Patrick made my moving day. It was very professional. Sales team and movers work efficiently. They did care a lot to our furniture and it ended up with no damage to anything. Definitely recommend Royal Canadian Van lines to anyone looking for a cross country move.

Long-distance move from Ottawa, ON to Victoria, BC

Unprofessional, unreliable, and not cheap in the end

I hired Royal Canadian Van Lines to move my 1-bedroom from Ottawa to Victoria. The pick up was on May 22 and it was delivered on July 8th. Taking 6 weeks and 4 days. When it was delivered several boxes were upside down including an antique treasure chest which they managed to have completely upside down with the convex part on the bottom. My skis were also lost or stolen in the process. After paying the $800 deposit and an additional $2000 towards the bill, their salesperson, Denis E, said that “I am putting a stop delivery arrangement notification on your account…”. He did that after I asked why my items were so late to be delivered. TLDR; they will misrepresent the cost and delivery estimates in order to get your deposit and then threaten you if you try to enforce any part of the contract. Your things will not be handled with care and these movers are not cheaper than more reputable movers. Please note that credible movers will do a visual inspection to provide an accurate estimate and they will be accredited with the Better Business Bureau. Royal is not accredited with the BBB or the Canadian Movers Association and my experience with them explains why.

Local move within Toronto, ON

Royal Treatment.

Great service. I got quoted for a local job within Toronto for $465.00 and for 4 hours. The movers were great and professional, it took an hour longer because my piano was very difficult to move out of our apartment and the elevator got stuck :( but at the end of the day the service was awesome. It was fast and done very professionally, the movers I had; Jim and Eddy were great. Over all I had a great experience, the dispatcher was in contact with me during the move and helped out with any issues that arose.

Good movers, good team.

Royal Canadian Van Lines made our last move a very enjoyable one. The movers arrived very much on time. They were so friendly and helpful. We weren’t fully packed when they came. They helped us pack everything and loaded all our boxes to the van. They delivered few days later with all our things intact. I have to mention the foreman, who was absolutely fantastic at leading his men and doing such a good job. They arrive 2 days later than expected and they did not mention about free storage which I could use but cannot blame on them fully but overall I will still give them 5 stars.

Hi Abdel, Thank you for your 5-star review. Glad that our crew and salesperson were able to make your experience a great one.

Long-distance move from Toronto, ON to Victoria, BC

Ontario to west coast: good communication & service.

We moved from Ontario to Vancouver Island with Royal Canadian Van Lines. Dennis and every dispatcher I spoke with was always very responsive and helpful over email and phone. They picked up our stuff on the scheduled day (a bit outside the time range they gave, but that wasn't a problem and to be expected with moving companies), and delivered it right on time. The moving crews were very helpful and polite. Our stuff was packed well—just a few bits of wear and tear on the boxes, but again, I suspect this is typical for any move. It took about two weeks for our stuff to arrive on the west coast, and final delivery was made a week after that.

This was my first time doing a long-distance move, and I was horrified by the reviews I read for the vast majority of companies. Royal Canadian Van Lines had one of the higher initial quotes I received, but the reviews were consistent, and my research suggests that many other companies lowball you for the initial quote and then add on costs wherever they can.

I obviously can't speak for what our experience with any other company would have been like, but I'm very satisfied with our move with Royal Canadian Van Lines.

Long-distance move from Summerside, PE to Markham, ON

Thanks for the awesome move.

After my sister in law suggested using Royal Canadian Van Lines, I figured I should try them out. They arrived on time as they promised and the crew were very friendly and so efficient. All the furniture was wrapped well even the bike :) and they also brought some wardrobe boxes to use for my clothes. Our salesman Dennis stopped by to check on the guys and supervise the loading team. That was beyond expected. Thanks to them to make this stressful move to an easy peasy lemon squeezy. Recommend to all.

Long-distance move from Ontario to Nova Scotia

Absolutely disappointed

They quit at Job at took 500 dollars of contract. Day of move China plates were not to be boxed and disappointed with worker. Contract 1200 paid and thus. All boxes and I was ready for move. I was upset with situation but had to said “fill your boots.” He questioned my list and now wanted to enter house and inventory the house. I had everything to go. Listed and marked! I wasn’t interested and ready to continue getting my items moved. He felt humiliated (no one there) and left without touching a thing. I’m willing to pay whatever the cost pays. Just get it done and wanted to speak with Dennis. This person didn’t want to talk any way but started every item in the house. Items that I wasn’t taking. Waisting both of our times. The other worker stated that I should let him know what we should to take and I said that’s the way quick way and he again did not like hearing that and quit the job and help humiliated. Ridiculous! 5 years old! Just work! I need my items out of the house and he quit! I never wore a mask. The company never let me know I should or at the time. The Manager then stated that I should of due to Ontario Policy. If that’s the case and you are reputable then let the customer know and the safety of your workers!!! Whole situation smells stinky. Non professional. If you really need to do the job come by in person and see yourself. Your guys quit and took 500 dollars. Fraud. Humiliated in front of who? Have some back bone. Just quit their job!! Stay away…be prepared!!!!

Official company response

Thank you for the review. The review actually tells everything but let me sum it up as well. The client did not wear a mask; It is in a middle of a pandemic and our movers are delivering goods from one house to another and we are not taking risks and do not have to warn you to have your mask on so many times.

He refused us to take the inventory list which is a very regular procedure to do on the moving date in order to make sure the items are properly packed, loaded and delivered. Called our regular procedure a "waste of time" and continue using abusive language towards our team and we have zero toleration for that kind of behaviour and had no choice but to come back to the warehouse and still refunded his deposit which was non-refundable. The client called after and apologized about what he did was wrong and asked us to come back but again this time movers were not feeling safe to go back to his house.

Once again, front line workers in the middle of the pandemic do not deserve those kinds of bad behaviour especially when they are doing their job professionally.

Long-distance move from London, ON to Charlottetown, PE

What a bad experience: very expensive and very offensive sales person

I paid $ 3318 for moving one bedroom apartment from London Ontario to Charlottetown PEI and at the same time they have an extremely rude sales person who is skillful in changing facts, speak in a very offensive way and language

and made me feel that he is doing me favors while he was fixing his own mistakes (Dennis).

I was threatened by this person that my stuff would be thrown in a public storage and I called them the police.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3318

Official company response

Thanks for the review. The quote was upfront with no extra fee added later. The delivery truck did not get to your unit and we rented a Uhaul since you didn't have a licence and performed the delivery with no additional fee on the very same day and I don't know how else we can provide a better service than that. Good luck with your next move and moving company.
