Waited for six months to move our stuff from HK to Canada
No ones in the company is willing to take responsibility for the delay of at least three months. They even blamed us for choosing a less popular destination in Canada. Worst service from Joe Westerman, Lars Kuepper, and Joyce.
Firstly, thank you very much for taking your time to write to us in details about your relocation experience. Any feedback that we do receive from yourself and other clients is very valuable to us and we certainly act upon this. A happy client is our ultimate goal and all of us here at Relosmart are disappointed when we fail to reach that goal.
I appreciate your balanced comments, commending our own packing team on their efficiency and helpfulness. We will certainly pass the praise onto them, as well as the delivery team moving the items into your new home.
In regards to the timeframe, I agree that the total door to door time was over the original estimated that was on the quotation. After reviewing the information this is attributed to several factors:
1. Estimated timelines are based on timelines at the time of the quotation. These timelines can vary throughout the course of a year. Hence we highlight in the quotation that timelines cant be guaranteed.
2. The previous shared container to Canada left shortly before your packing date. Therefore, we needed to wait until we had packed other clients to reach the required volume before dispatching the container. This was unfortunately longer than estimated due to multiple clients delaying / moving their collection date.
3. The vessel was delayed entering port. Originally, the date was scheduled for 4th of August into Port. This was delayed until the 17th of August. Unfortunately, we have no control of the shipping lines.
4. After custom clearance, we will deliver your items based also on the shared container. This means they need to also reach a required volume before the delivery can be scheduled. Due to the remoteness of your final destination within Canada, this took longer than expected.
We apologise for any stress that the delay has caused you. When Relosmart quoted you in February 2023 we quoted based on the shared container option where by we stated “Door to door time can’t be guaranteed and is only estimated 7-9 week.” If we were made aware that you were under stricter timeline requirements then we could have quoted alternative solutions based on an LCL or AIR Shipment, which would of avoided the waiting time but come at significantly higher cost.
We agree that you did follow up multiple times on your shipment and always you were responded to, with an explanation / update. As advised above the waiting time for the delivery took longer than expected. It was not that we blaming the location as for the reason for the delay, as you are correct in that we were fully aware of the final delivery address when quoting and advising the door to door expected timelines. However, we have previously experienced more traffic to your area at that time of year and was unable to foresee that little deliveries would be made which results in a longer waiting time.
As per the quotation full payment is required before collection. Insurance coverage would not affect the speed of the delivery I’m afraid.
You are correct that other clients would also have to go to the customs office in Halifax to clear their items. Having another customer at the office unfortunately doesn’t mean that’s it a popular destination. In this case just two clients to Nova Scotia. I believe it demonstrates its not a popular destination in fact. As you can imagine the most popular destinations would be Toronto and Vancouver followed by far less popular destination like Winnipeg, Edmonton, Ottawa ect. Secondly you mentioned about shipping the items together. This is exactly what we have done. However just because there are two clients doesn’t mean that it is sufficient volume to dispatch the delivery straight away. I’m sure you can understand that it is a long journey from Toronto to Wolfville and therefore to offer the cost-effective rates to this destination, a sizeable amount of volumes / shipments must be completed.
Once again, we apologise for any additional stress this has caused to your family and wish you have a successful start into your new life in Canada.

Move from Hong Kong to Hungary
We moved full container from Hong Kong to Hungary with ReloSmart.
Relo Smart were not the cheapest but we chose them as they committed that there would be no unplanned, surprise costs.
Most of the experience was positive but once the container arrived to Budapest we were asked to pay additional cost for local shipping.
To our complaint, we were explained that the final address was not known originally and that is why we need to pay more. After providing a proof of early communication with the exact destination address, Relo Smart just avoided any response and ignored us. This left us with quite a bad taste.

Our proposal was based on full door to door services and based on the destination Budapest, Hungary and not a specific address. This is the quotation that you accepted. Upon arrival our local partner informed us that the container cant park outside the address that you provided and that there is a small extra fee of only for extra manpower to shuttle goods to your apartment. As our services were based on normal access the extra fees were levied on to you. This was mentioned in the contract that you agreed to "Difficult access such as restrictions on parking or a requirement to shuttle or to carry items by stairs above second story and / or via lift at destination may result in additional charges"

My move from Hong Kong to the UK
Avoid, avoid, avoid! There is no way I could possibly recommend using ReloSmart- do yourself a favour and avoid the headaches I am (still!) having and book a better company.
I will preface this by saying that my complaints are not regarding the delays to my delivery- I appreciate that we are in the midst of a global pandemic causing significant delays to shipments etc- my complaints are entirely regarding how Relosmart have dealt with the issues and their lack of effective communication. I am current at day 158 since my goods were packed (Almost 23 weeks, over 5 months).
I called Relosmart to arrange a delivery from Hong Kong to the UK. To start off, at the beginning things were great- Joseph from Relosmart came to survey my apartment, a packing date was booked (And they were flexible and adjusted it when my leaving date changed) and all was well. The price increased from the initial quotation as expected due to the shipping issues, but was still reasonable and cheaper than I had anticipated. Packing day came and still no complaints at all- the guys that came to pack were polite and efficient. At this point I was told to expect delivery approx. 2.5 months from then which would have been some time in early September- great. Bear in mind, we were well in to the pandemic at this point, so on that front, nothing had really changed. Then I sent them money, and that’s when things changed. As a customer, from this point on it felt like ReloSmart were saying ‘We have your money, we no longer give a ****’.
Flash forward to the end of July when I reached out to Adam from Relosmart for an update. No response. I try again and on August 9th (7 weeks since my goods were packed) I finally get a response. My goods are still in HK and haven’t been shipped yet, and they didn’t think to let me know that the 2.5 month estimate is no longer accurate. But- miraculously there is now a container available (Now I’ve asked about it) but it’ll cost more. Fine- I pay the extra. It does seem more than a little coincidental that only when I ask does a container appear- bit of a red flag.
At this point I asked for updates on my shipment- I should be so lucky. On September 11th (Weeks later) Joyce sent me vessel & container information that turned out to be false.
At this point the UK side of the deal started to be engaged (John Mason International), and if nothing else they turned out to be a whole lot more competent and useful than Relosmart are. They were able to share accurate shipping & container information this time around- confirming that the previous info I was given was wrong.
On October 28th I was sent a message to inform me that the container had not been moved from the London Gateway promptly enough and there was a fine to be paid- and guess who was liable for that one too. After some arguing I realised the only way I was ever likely to receive anything was to pay more… again.
Here I am now at the end of November, I still do not have an ETA for my goods, although if nothing else at least they are in the right country now. I have all but given up on ReloSmart being competent enough to arrange final delivery, so I am planning to rent a van (Yet more money) and go to Hemel Hempstead myself to collect the goods.
This has been the worst moving experience I have ever had, and I couldn’t recommend more that you should avoid ReloSmart and use another company. ReloSmart are great until they have your money- from that point on, they simply do not care and are not truthful.
I ended up having to take a day off of work to collect the goods myself as Relosmart failed to deliver to my home.

We totally understand your frustration and rest assured this is not our usual service standards even after receiving payments.
As mentioned in previous email communication with your move coordinator regrettably the recent supply chain dilemma has massively affected our usual processes and timelines.
Your shipping method is via Shared container without guaranteed timelines. Free storage in HK was temporarily provided.
However even after attaining the required volume, there were no shipping containers available for Europe because of the Suez Canal , Yantian and Ningbo port closures. among other reasons.
This supply chain problem was marred by numerous Blank Sailing problems as shipping lines are unable to guarantee vessel schedules hence causing these information issues.
In addition, to the massive influx of incoming containers into UK, a huge shortage of trailer truck drivers due to Brexit has further prolonged delivery,
While we do our utmost best to dispatch shipments as efficiently as we can. We also didn’t not see above circumstances to happen which we haven’t seen in recent industry times thereby causing unexpected issues not only confined to Relosmart but the entire industry.
Rest assured your service is via door to door method however as you have elected to collect shipment we will therefore arrange a refund based on a Hand Out from Warehouse basis.

4 months and no signs of my belongings
I am very disappointed with this company and their lack of transparency. I signed a removal contract that stated 7-10 weeks, it has now been 4 months since they packed my things. I keep contacting them but I get the same response for the past 6 weeks despite having paid my bill. This is not a company I would recommend.

I see we packed your items on the 12th of October 2021 and dispatched the shipment on the 28th of October 2021, only 16 days later. This was a faster than average dispatch of the container.
After reviewing the information this is attributed to several factors:

2. The shipment occurred in the 2021 – 2022 COVID period. Unfortunately our operations, like every relocation companies throughout the world were significantly impacted by the availability of drivers, safety procedures & a global restructuring of manpower. Delays were occurring that we were unable to foresee at the time of quoting. There was no benefit for us to hold onto your shipment and delay the delivery as we were offering free storage.
