Long-distance move from Kentucky to Arkansas

Professional Self Moving.

This was the 2nd time I have used Professional Self Moving, definitely the way to move, I will never use a full service moving company again.  They drop the 28ft trailer at your residence and leave it for 3 days, you pack it and pay only for the space you use.  As long as you have someone to help you that knows how to load your stuff properly, you will have no problems, great service, easy to do all on line and costs are much lower than the Pods or other self pack. You can track your load while you commute to your new location and when they drop the trailer you have another 3 days to unload it.  Highly recommend this company if you're contemplating a self move. My most recent move I took the whole 28ft truck.

Lies, Lies, and More Lies.

I called this moving comapny because my son had a good experience. Kevin seemed very nice and helpful. He described the moving vans they used as "very large moving vans" and estimated my move at $3,000. He was "absolutely sure" it would not be more than that and said they would measure the space used after my belongings were loaded onto the moving van to come up with the actual price. Again he was "sure" my move would not be more that $3,000. When the truck arrived, it was dinky - not at all the huge truck he described and not at all the same as the type they moved my son in, which was much larger - height and width. Well, of course, my belongings took up more space than Kevin estimated because the truck was no where near as wide or tall as he described on the phone. Unfortunately, I believed what he said and did not read the contract as carefully as I should have. My move was $1,000 more than Kevin estimated. He is in the business and should have given a more accurate estimate. I firmly believe he underestimated on purpose - so that I would choose his company. I got several estimates and went with him because of the experience my son had as well as the estimate - which was in line with other estimates. My mistake. Kevin lied about the truck dimensions so cheated me out of $1,000. He lied to me and I would definitely NOT recommend him to anyone.

Official company response

I am sorry you felt that you were not treated fairly. But please allow me to post the actual facts in your move.
1. You requested the quote in Feb 2013
2. You did not move until Nov 2013
3. As a courtesy to you (and your son) - we maintained the same price..though the price had gone up in the 9 months between quote and move.
4. You quote form stated you had 1 bedroom to move - nothing else. We provided you a quote that should have been more than enough room to move that bedroom (plus some).
5. You were advised IN ADVANCE that your shipment would be on the Standard Trailer (28'x8'x9') as opposed to our Premium Trailer (53'x8'x9'). They are the EXACT same in width and height.
6. With the extra 4' of trailer space you utilized - your move was only $3,000 --not the $4,000 you keep claiming.
7. You extra footage (that you loaded) was $900.00 - not the $1,000 you keep claiming.
8. In review of all the recorded audio conversations you had with us - you were more than pleased with the amount of space and price (including the rate for each foot should you had used additional space)
9. You shipment was measured at pickup, break point and delivery terminals and the measurements were correct. The terminal even peeked over the top of the bulkhead wall and stated that it was a poor job of packing/loading -and- there was more than just a bedroom in the shipment.

We have been performing moves for over 17yrs and unlike other carriers - we do not underestimate shipments. We provide the most accurate and best price based on the information provided to us.

I am sorry you felt cheated - but when emotions cam down and you remember everything we talked about, I am sure you will feel differently.

Long-distance move from Wisconsin to South Carolina

Best cost for moving.

I had quotes from Allied and from Mayflower. $13,000 to $18,000 for a 1050 mile move. With Pro Self Moving it was $3,750. That's about $10,000 in savings or more. The driver, Ed, and his helper, Randal, were available on a cash basis to pack the tuck. This was inexpensive and VERY worth the money. They were very knowledgeable on getting things tight and secure for the trip. They packed a lot of stuff in a small space and everything made the trip without damage. I never plan on moving again, but if I did I would defiantly call Pro Self Movers again.

Long-distance move from New York to Utah

Not Recommended.

I don't recommend using them to move your things. I had a bad experience with them. The truck driver who dropped off my trailer in New York wasn't pleasant. It looked like he just wanted to drop it off and leave. Didn't want to spend the time explaining to me what needs to be done in the trailer and my length of the trailer that I'm allowed to use. The driver also didn't warn me about potential damages that could be done to the items during transit. And not only that, the bed of the trailer was so dirty and wet. So with that in mind, I was charged $400 extra for going over the length limit when it was measured at the terminal. I wasn't happy about that but I had no choice since my stuff was already on the truck. The trailer arrived at my new place in Utah, I was appalled to find several of my things in serious damage. The last thing I packed into the trailer was the grill and it was held in place by two big pieces of the couch so it can't moving around that much in the trailer. The divider that was put up into place to divide my things from other things that will be put into the trailer was put behind the grill. As I took off the divider, the back end of the grill was smashed badly. Just like a crushed beer can. I was surprised on how badly it was damaged because grills are usually made from durable metal and don't smash up that easily. I believe that whatever was being put into the trailer along with my things have smashed up against that divider, damaging the grill. My dressers had a few scratches on it and some of the wood was chipped off. So I filed a damage claim to the company and sent them photos. I heard back from them a few days ago that they're not paying me for the damages. Their excuse was that I didn't pack the grill good enough or protect it by covering it with a blanket. I wasn't very happy. I had about $600 worth of damages done to my things and the grill is a total loss. The grill cost me $400 brand new and it wasn't even one year old. This company has no care for their customers. They just want their money and be on their way. So if you are moving out of state and you value your items, please look for a different company that will show care.

Official company response

First of all.. we would like to apologize that Bob's items were damaged. But as he already stated in our response, the pictures CLEARLY showed that the items were not properly protected or secured in the trailer (which is the responsibility of the customer). Due to his negligence in packing his items..he incurred some damage directly relative to the packing.

Secondly, it is not the driver's responsibility to show a customer where 5 feet of trailer is. It does not take a rocket-scientist to use a tape measure and mark off 5 feet in the empty trailer (which I stated many times to this customer over the TTY system). As it turns out, this customer (due to his underestimating of his items) ended up using 8 full feet of trailer space. Again, he was told how to measure after loading the trailer - so he knew he went over by a few feet.

As much as we feel sorry for this customer's own mistakes which caused his damage - we cannot be held financially liable for his own shortcomings.

Professional SelfMoving moves tens of thousands of customer each year without any problems or damage - which is why we are highly rated and respected in the self-service moving industry and we maintain an A rating with the BBB and other reporting outlets.

Professional SelfMoving is the BEST state to state moving company!

Professional SelfMoving is the BEST state to state moving company!  After doing extensive research and getting very expensive quotes, I came across Professional SelfMoving.  I spoke with Kevin Miller.  He explained the process to me and listened to my special needs and requirements.  He was accomodating and helpful and was there for me every step of the way.   Consquently, my move went through without a hitch!
Everyone involved was professional and helpful.  The pickup and delivery were on time and went smoothly.  The items in the truck arrived exactly the same way they left.
I highly recommed Professional SelfMoving to anyone.  They are professional, helpful, accomodating and very reasonably priced.  I would most defintely use them again.

Long-distance move from Arizona to Washington

Upfront and honest.

From the get go, Professional self-moving was helpful beyond our belief, We had planned to move from Phoenix back to Washington midsummer, We made all the normal decisions, started to plan and pack. We called all the usual suspects in relation to our transportation. And found that the cost involved in driving a truck was just too expensive.. I called the transport and storage places and found that most of the quotes were UN realistic, either too high or WAY to low. When I started to scratch the surface the “fine print” came up and the cost rose considerably. With some googling we found a few self-pack companies and started to inquire. Pretty much all the companies have the same deal…They drop off a trailer, you pack it, you put up a bulkhead and they charge you for the footage you use.. I found that the transport rates were vast. However when I finally got around to Professional Self Mover  a gentleman named Kevin Miller answered my call, He was courteous, up front, We discussed my needs and Mr. Miller instead of throwing numbers at me he asked me what needs were. After several phone calls and price shopping we went with Mr. Miller and professional self-moving. They weren’t the cheapest however the forthright honesty that Mr. Miller displayed in his calls instilled confidence with our needs. We set a date and got a price…. Within that month we had made several changes to our transport needs, we changed delivery cities and pick up times over a half dozen times. The professionalism that was extended to us was amazing, plus the price quoted did not change. Over the next several weeks we had to maneuver our move due to our work schedules, again this did not phase Professional self-moving. Move day arrives, a driver arrives in the AM asks us where we wanted the trailer, I showed him and he places the trailer EXACTLY where we wanted it, I open up the door to see a very well-manicured trailer and a clean sturdy loading ramp that was easy to use. Our load up was quick, easy and when it came down to it, we actually used less space than was originally quoted. The driver came back when agreed on and picked up the trailer and it was off. I don’t think I have ever experienced a move so simple and easy over the 15 moves that I have done in my life. This was as easy and honest as it gets. Professional Self Moving will be used again by my family when our needs arise.

Move.

Company was great from the start. Kevin answered all my questions and helped secure the proper size truck.I was kept informed of everything that was happening at all times. I decided at last minute to pay the guys driving to help me load and unload. Ed and Randall did a great job. They worked without stopping to make sure I would get to my destination on time. I would definitely recommend to anyone who needs to move.

Long Distance Move by Professional SelfMoving.

Kevin Miller, my agent at Professional SelfMoving was a pleasure to work with!  He answered all my lengthy questions in a timely and patient manner.  He helped me with all the issues related to a long-distance move and worked with me to time everything just perfectly, as I had to travel across country to get everything loaded up.  This process of moving stored items from Washington state to Texas could have been disaster, but Professional SelfMoving clearly demonstrated great experience backed up by wonderful customer service.  Will be recommending them to friends and using them if I ever need to move again!

Cross country move.

Kevin was very professional and went out of his way to make sure things went smoothly. He even arranged early delivery at the last moment. We did have a small issue with that, in the form of landscape damage, because of an inexperienced driver, but they were willing to work with us. We ended up settling that with the common carrier to everyone's satisfaction. All in all, we did have very good service from Pro Selfmoving, at a good price.
