Will Break Your Things

They promised white-glove service, which was supposed to include wrapping all my furniture and packing my TV in a hard container. Instead, they left my furniture bare and put only a thin blanket over my TV. The TV arrived shattered, and my furniture was gouged. The delivery people blamed the pick-up people, admitting they did a poor job. Still, the company offered me almost nothing in compensation ($50 for the TV), and the pick-up people had the audacity to demand a tip. The customer service person is very difficult to get ahold of and has ignored several emails and phone calls. Overall, a terrible experience!

Official company response

Mr. Pechette, you did not opt for "White Glove Full Pack Service". There are no packing charges on your estimate with Pinnacle Van Lines. The standard service includes blanket wrapping of all furniture items and loading your boxes. Your estimate with us was for $1850 for 330 cubic ft. No TV packing or anything additional was added. If you worked something out with the carrier that showed up to perform the move above and beyond what you agreed to with us. Your dispute is with them not Pinnacle.

Beware..SCAM!!

I would like to give a -5 STAR..!! We hired Pinnacle Van Lines to move our belongings from WI to SC. After Pinnacle received our deposit all communication via Pinnacle was handled poorly. The third part moving company (A&F Moving and Storage) Pinnacle hired to move my family down to SC from WI DESTROYED 95 percent of our belongings, totaling thousands of dollars and stole electronics along with medications, while such moving individual was in bedroom alone and caught in the act. After the third-party moving company arrived at our residence 5hrs late, things started going downhill. Items were thrown around, tossed onto the ground, stuffed into the truck (not wrapped) and DESTROYED not to mention witnessing the movers smoking marijuana in the cab of the moving truck while moving our belongings. After witnessing this my wife and I contacted Steve, our pinnacle customer service rep and explained our situation. Not only did Steve accuse us of lying regarding what we witnessed, he told the third-party moving company to drop ALL of our belongings off on the road or sell their items on Ebay. The moving company arrived at our SC residence at 7pm to unload and proceeded to toss/throw our belongings out of the moving truck, cursing about NOT caring about our belongings. The Greenville SC police department was called to witness the destruction and profanity the moving company was causing. The company did NOT full fill said contract regarding wrapping/unwrapping along with assembly of furniture and other household items. I will NEVER refer or hire this company to move my family ever again. BEWARE of this SCAM!!??

Official company response

Matt, I’d like to apologize again for your experience with A&F Moving and Storage. We have done several jobs with them and have not had any issues like this before. Being a Broker we are at the mercy of our carriers to provide good service on our moves. I have conflicting stories from you and the carrier as to what actually happened with your move. You say you contacted our agent Steve when you started having issues with your move. You state that “Not only did Steve accuse us of lying regarding what we witnessed, he told the third-party moving company to drop ALL of our belongings off on the road or sell their items on Ebay.” All phone calls here are recorded and I have all of the calls between you and Steve saved. At no point in the conversation with Steve did he “Accuse you of lying”. He was actually genuinely concerned and even repeated every issue you had and wrote them all down to bring to us to review with the carrier. Steve does not even have the number to the carrier so he could not have possibly “told the third-party moving company to drop ALL of our belongings off on the road or sell their items on Ebay.” It is extremely hard to believe everything you are saying with such blatant lies about our company. You state “thousands of dollars worth of electronics were stolen.” Yet when the police were there no arrests were made and the officer left because he said that it “Was a waste of his time being there.” I reached out to you to explain the proper channels you need to go through in order to file a claim for your damages. As with every business there is a process to get situations handled. Going online and posting defamation about my company is not the proper way to handle the problem. I gave you all of the carrier’s information which is who you need to file your claim with. I told you we will help you as much as possible to get this situation handled. You have met us with hostility and impossible and unreasonable expectations. We maintain such high ratings from the service our company provides and the way problems are handled if they arise.

Long-distance move from Santa Rosa, CA to Louisville, KY

April Move from California

Pinnacle Van Lines LLC, DOT 3197443 MC-1161787 (a Broker, not a mover) contracts with businesses whose practices appear on this warning document provided by the federal government: https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/protect-your-move/red-flags

Pinnacle subcontracted my move to Feb-Ex. My CA pickup 04/12/21 and KY delivery 05/08/21 were performed by vendors subcontracted by Feb-Ex. A rental truck arrived in CA with a paper sign taped to the door. Delivery: 65 foot truck (normal 18-wheeler 48-53 feet) with paper sign taped on door. It can't turn into a driveway and requires over half a football field on the street to park or an extra change for "shuttle services" is applied.

ONE MOVING GUY. Pinnacle & Feb-Ex JUSTIFY using one man to move everything because "the amount of items was small." Not the size of the item, not the weight, not the value. Read on . . . .

Pinnacle states they "routinely sub-contract with Feb-Ex." On the moving day the customer is expected to sign-off on a brand new contract with a different moving company. Never ever involve FEB-EX in your move. They call and say, "this is the moving company" and when I asked which company, they repeat, "the moving company.") Did the contracts match? No. Differences in charges? Yes.

If you sub-contract with another company fairly often, then you would be aware of the differences in the two contracts and RESOLVE THE ISSUES before the move, right? No.

Instead it was a series of rushed phone calls to fix billing issues.

THE INSURANCE: Pinnacle assigned the insurance value of the move as the cost of the move. That is, all my belongings were valued at $2275 when my Tempur-Pedic mattress alone costs over 5K. Options for increased insurance were supposed to be available with the carrier. When I requested a higher coverage from the carrier due to several expensive items I was told IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO PURCHASE MORE INSURANCE AND MUST BE DONE 3 DAYS IN ADVANCE. But Pinnacle never told me about this requirement and never told me who the sub-contractor would be.

So now I have 2 large boxes missing and broken items, and when I called Pinnacle, I was referred to Feb-Ex (where the dispatcher refused to identify the company she was working for.) I was told when I called Feb-Ex claims, "We won't find it, just file a claim." Why? THE INSURANCE I WAS FORCED TO ACCEPT IS 60 CENTS PER POUND. If my box of clothing weighed 30 pounds, it's cheaper to just "give me" $18.00 insurance coverage. And of course, Pinnacle Van Lines LLC (DOT 3197443 MC 155227) has no skin in this game. They got their money.

Well Done

Needed a moving company to move a variety of furniture to prepare my house for sale. The guys that came were extremely polite and considerate of our belongings. Took great care and effort to move items carefully and placed them exactly as required. Listened to instructions intently. Happy to recommend them and will certainly use them again.
