Long-distance move from Texas City, TX to Riverside, CA

Fast and efficient

I don’t remember ever using the same movers twice in a row until I came across Moving Nation. We have now hired them for 3 successive moves, all because there is simply no competition for their performance. The movers are so fast and so efficient that I would even be prepared to pay more for their service. The trucks that they use are new and always clean, so your things also remain unsoiled. Very happy with my choice and recommend them strongly.

Long-distance move from Veneta, OR to Scott City, MO

Hostage Situation.

I scheduled an out of state home move with Moving Nation going from Oregon to Missouri scheduled for Aug. 26th. Before signing a contract with this company I stressed the fact that I wanted my furniture ASAP 5 days tops and storage was out of the question as far as I was concerned. Their customer representative assured me that this would not happen. At midnight on 8/26/20 their movers show up at my house and took two and a half days to complete the job. They finished on 8/27/20. After the truck was loaded, they unloaded everything into a nearby storage unit and I haven't seen my property since. As of 9/14/20 and countless attempts to contact Moving Nation only to be stone walled, we remain without furniture and information as to where or when to expect it. At one point I was able to speak with someone at moving nation in the costumer service department. She told me that my property was not scheduled for delivery anytime soon because I still owed them money. She went on to say that she couldn't say anymore about this matter until I paid $3662. She stated that this was the portion of the bill the driver should have collected upon pick up but did not. I explained that I offered this payment to one of the two men sent by Moving Nation on 8/26 after showing up at my home at mid-night and the man refused to except the money. She continued to repeat that I needed to pay the money now. Feeling pressured I made the requested payment of $3662. First I alerted my bank to keep track of the payment because I felt this company wasn’t legitimate. after I made the payment, I called Moving Nation's costumer service department back to let them know I made the payment and now I wanted information about my property. The female employee, "Tina" refused to give me any more information as to the location of my property nor a date when to expect delivery. Not even a guarantee that they were keeping my property safe. I have been forced to make the payment of $3665 plus the $1288 I paid to them as the first installment of the move. I have met all of their demands and gotten nothing in return. Moving Nation has drove up the cost of the move several times since picking up my furniture and driving away it on 8/27/20. Initially Moving Nation quoted $5994.99 for the entire move. Currently Moving Nation is demanding an additional payment upon delivery of $3662 totaling the cost of this horrible job thus far, $8,987. For an out of state home move scheduled for 8/26 and taking two days to load a three-bedroom home only to off load my furniture into a storage unit. Moving Nation allowed me to believe that the movers were in route to my new home with my furniture. After 3 days and many calls later, I was told by Tina, that my furniture wasn't on its way and she refused to divulge the location of the storage unit that now held my property.

Official company response

Couple “discrepancies” we would like to point out in that “review”:

“Before signing a contract with this company I stressed the fact that I wanted my furniture ASAP 5 days tops and storage was out of the question as far as I was concerned. Their customer representative assured me that this would not happen.”
– IF customer “stressed the fact that I wanted my furniture ASAP 5 days tops” and she did it BEFORE signing the contract, why would she sign it, when it clearly says that our average delivery frame from OR to MO is 17 business days? She put her initials right under those conditions.

“At midnight on 8/26/20 their movers show up at my house and took two and a half days to complete the job. They finished on 8/27/20.”
- If we showed up on midnight of 8/26/20 meaning a minute prior to 8/27/2020 and according to customer we finished the job on 8/27/2020 how is it “took two and a half days”?

“After the truck was loaded, they unloaded everything into a nearby storage unit and I haven't seen my property since.”
- We took the shipment to our warehouse to be loaded to the semi and then be delivered to customers new residence. How she expected to see her property prior to delivery we don’t really understand.

“As of 9/14/20 and countless attempts to contact Moving Nation only to be stone walled, we remain without furniture and information as to where or when to expect it. Feeling pressured I made the requested payment of $3662.”
- That was the other way around – we were chasing the customer to collect pick up payment. We would collect it on the day of the pickup, but customer was NOT THERE when we finished and that portion, she conveniently forgot to mention. She took off somewhere and left our crew alone there. Obviously without the payment we could not start delivery process.

- As we stated before, due to NONPAYMENT shipment was not in schedule for loading and if the customer called right after she made payment it was still not in schedule. Customer was advised that we appreciate the payment and now shipment getting to the loading schedule and customer will be advised when it will be loaded and when it will be delivered.

Not even a guarantee that they were keeping my property safe.
- Why would anything happen to the shipment and what kind of the guaranty we are talking about?

I have been forced to make the payment of $3665 plus the $1288 I paid to them as the first installment of the move.
- “I have been forced to make the payment” – looks like customer is “getting forced to make the payment” buying groceries, paying in restaurants and when she buys from Amazon. Customer has an obligation according to the contract to pay for the services, nobody forced her to do that.

– We not really sure what “demands” customer referring to, but if she would pay attention to what was going on the day of pick up, and what’s on the contract she would not be frustrated.
– It is an out of state move going from OR to MO.

Moving Nation allowed me to believe that the movers were in route to my new home with my furniture. After 3 days and many calls later, I was told by Tina, that my furniture wasn't on its way and she refused to divulge the location of the storage unit that now held my property
– We don’t understand who we “allowed me to believe that the movers were in route to my new home with my furniture” when we clearly stated that unless the pickup payment is not done, shipment is not to be scheduled for delivery.
– Since the payment was done on September 2nd, and we have 17 business days to make that delivery we will be under our contract till September 29th without breaching it.

Reliable movers

I hired Moving Nation for the first time for this move to Florida. However, I will be shifting my offices from New York to Maryland soon so I was looking for reliable movers and Moving Nation is it! I think I got quite lucky in that a company that I hadn’t used before turned out to be perfect for my needs. That’s why I am sharing my experience in this review. I strongly recommend Moving Nation based on my move and give them 5 stars.

Impressive company

5 stars for a really impressive company. We have hired them 4 times and they have come through for us every time. You can always tell when they are doing a move because the boxes just start appearing in quick succession in the truck. Even though they are fast, the movers from Moving Nation don’t get careless and don’t break things. In my opinion, they could be slightly cheaper, but I also believe that their current prices are good value for money.

Please Please do Not Use This Moving Company.

This company is a total fraud; they will be at your feet until you pay the initial deposit and once done it will be total harassment from that point on. They provided us a binding estimate based on our inventory list. On the day of the move, they load half of the truck and then harassed us to pay another $1800 though we did not deviate from our original inventory list and actually removed items(exercise bike, garage cabinet, queen and full mattress) incurring further losses in addition to damaging the wall in the house and the door siding. The items were delivered after a week for a 750 mile delivery and the items arrived damaged. I have been emailing the company since the move with the most recent one being attaching pics of the damaged items but I have not received a response till date. Attaching pics to this review.

I would use this company again.

Moving Nation helped me move my studio apartment in Oregon to a 2 bedroom home in Washington. So, basically there wasn't that much stuff to move in the first place but it was still more than I could have handled on my own. The two movers made mincemeat out of the move, clearing my place in less than a couple of hours. They made it to my new place on time and unloaded and transferred all the things inside just as smoothly. I would use this company again.

Absolutely I urge you to NOT USE THIS MOVER A SCAM!

MOVING NATION located in Columbia, MD. This moving company is A SCAM not honest, nor professional AT ALL COME TO FIND AT THE END OF THIS JOURNEY OF MOVING. What started out to be $5,650 doubled by the end to 4 9, 600. Lied to from the beginning to the end. Supervisors have a THUG attitude. TRUST ME THIS MOVE WAS A MOVE FROM HELL & I HAVE NOT RETURNED to myself yet. Started with a Salesperson by the name of Roland Kg. who I had from the start we went over all of my furniture and belongings and how many boxes etc. etc. I went over this quote with him at least 5 times because I did not want any hidden charges or surprises. He assured me that there would be no extra charges. I was quoted 1 price and at the end left a hostage to my own belongings! The start began with Andrea who said ok you have to pay $900 extra to cover items, this was the 1st start of the move. I explained to him that this was not told tome that Roland said the blankets and tape would be included to cover and taped my sofas, chairs 1 glass top table that they chipped. I had already paid for covers for my mattresses and sofa.-chairs. Charges that were never explained to be from the start. oh that was just the start 2 hours into the move I was told come out to the truck so my niece who was helping me came out with me to see what he wanted to show me Andrau proceeded to tell me see this line this is what you paid for you go over this line there were 3-4 colored ropes your going to pay I said what THIS ABSOLUTELY WAS NOT TOLD TO ME. Lines to tell me that I'm going to pay more and more. What was I to do I had less than a week to move I sold my home and there was not to much more I could do, held against my will with my belongings at stake here. What began to be 2 bedrooms and 8 xmas boxs from the basement- 1 king, 1 queen, 1 office desk, chair, sofa 2 side chairs,2 tables 23 box's and a garage of 11 plastic containers at a cost of $5,200 ended up at $9,500. The rudest Supervisors from the start Andrea from the start of the move to the end of this insane move Alex. It's as if this Company cloned these Supervisors to act this way and they more than likely probably are getting commission. I felt terribly ABUSED as a SENIOR and felt I was being taken for! I was petrified to ask any questions! It was a horrific experience from the start to the end this was a disaster! Thank god I have a witness and smart enough to document and take pictures! If I asked these Supervisors any questions they were upset with me, so unacceptable. The delivery was to be expected on Monday and 1 week later, I received a call that they would have a delivery date of and time they could not make it. So Alex called me again that same day and said he could deliver around 5:00 p.m. I said to him I would have to ask the Apartment Manager if it was ok. No problem all was good UNTIL it was time to pay. Alex said ok I need the money I cant' start taking the boxes down until I'm paid in full. I replied yes here you go in full had a cashiers check ready with the balance of what was due. I took out the payment and gave to Alex, I received a death face remark, I asked you for cash or a money order! I said to him this is a cashiers check for god's sake what's the difference between a money order or cashiers check? I thought that they were the SAME CASH,CASH, CASH! Alex replied no I can't accept this! I as he can see was going through a breathing panic attack I could not breath I had to excuse myself to take my inhaler. I came out and pleaded with him and said please to at least 5 times where am I going to get $ 4,968 CASH or money order at 5:30 pm he starting nodding his head no no no! I pleaded with him to call his supervisor and ask if they could make a exception to accept this CASHIERS CHECK IN FULL. I even told him I would be able to ZELLE pay not the full amount but $ 2,500 at this time. He called his Supv. I believe and were talking Eastern European language that did not sound very good from the tone of both of them the expressions given by Alex would kill. Listen I said to him I'm calling CHASE BANK and asked the Customer Service person to please let Alex know that the Cashiers Check was good! She was even in shock when he said no. She said this is the same thing and yes she did get this and I've checked into her account and this cashiers check is good! I WAS BEING HELD CAPTIVE BY THIS MOVING COMPANY. I ALSO FELT VERY THREATENED BY THESE PEOPLE AS I EXPRESSED I FELT LIKE THIS WAS THE MAFIA! I FELT EXTEMELY THREATENED. I'M A SENIOR OF 65 YEARS OF AGE IF THEY DID THIS TO ME WHAT'S TO SAY HOW MANY TIMES THEY HAVE DONE THIS TO OTHERS. HONESTLY THEY SEEMED LIKE THIS WAS ALMOST REHEARSED. CHARGES UP AND UP BY THE HOUR LITERALLY, WHAT WAS I TO DO I SOLD MY HOME AND I HAD LITERALLY 1 WEEK TO MOVE. I TRUSTED THIS COMPANY, I NEVER EVER IMAGINED THAT THIS WOULD BE THE MOVE FROM HELL. I WAS TREATED WITH DISRESPECT NOT TO SAY I HAD A NUMEROUS PANIC ATTACKS FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END 3 TIMES!

Avoid. Bait and Switch pricing, poor packing and communication

My move with Moving Nation cost me 46% more than their estimate, an additional $3400. In addition, it was the worst move I have experienced. I have moved 6 times in the past 12 years, so I am familiar with the routine things that can go wrong, but this was much worse. There was bait and switch pricing, horrible packing, and poor communication. The support team doesn’t work on weekends.

I attempted resolve the issues after the move, with detailed documentation. After repeated attempts to contact them, I was told to work with a 3rd party to resolve it. When I completed that process, I was told Moving Nation no longer had a contract with them. I notified Moving Name several times, with no response.

Move

This was a full pack move of a two bedroom house from California to Washington state in early Oct 2020. I spent early Nov to January trying to get a resolution with Moving Nation.

Cost

The original estimate was based on a verbal walkthrough. I keep a list of furniture and the furniture sizes because I’ve moved so much. I gave accurate list of items and pointed out that we had more books and art than most households, giving details.

• Five days before the move, a person from The Moving Nation reviewed the items to be moved, and “discovered” that many items I had listed previously weren’t included in the estimate. The price was raised by $1600. On the day of the move, after packing, we were told we exceeded cubic feet limits, and the price would be additional $1800.

Packing

The packing was very bad. Here’s a small sample of packing issues.

• Part of the reason the cubic feet increased is that furniture wasn’t disassembled, and that there were boxes contained one lamp shade, or one power cord and small umbrella. In addition, the team used a lot of wardrobe boxes, and did things like put a microwave oven on top of a Roomba docking station, and a sewing machine on top of leather shoes.

• Despite the fact I’d called out that I had a lot of art, they didn’t pack it properly, stuffing framed pictures into boxes with Christmas ornaments. The pictures weren’t even wrapped in paper. I pulled an oil painting out of a box that also had laundry supplies.

• Packing tape was applied directly to an antique desk, and it was put in a wardrobe box.

Communication

• Move out was supposed to be Day 1 to pack, Day 2 to load the truck. Instead, pack team arrived in the afternoon of Day 1, and said they were going pack and load in one day. They didn’t finish til 9 PM. Rushing to do two days’ work in one day probably contributed to bad packing and increase of cubic feet, leading to my additional cost.

• No useful information on move-in date. The tentative move-in date was Oct 10. On the Oct 8 I contacted The Moving Nation to see if that was the date. The next day I was told “I haven't heard anything yet”. Later the same day I asked again and got no response. Oct 10 was a Saturday. I called and emailed repeatedly asking if the move-in was happening. I was unable to contact anyone from the Moving Nation from Oct 9 til Oct 12 to get a status on move-in date. I was told “We don’t work weekends”. Not getting an update on the status of the move-in date is completely unacceptable. I understand the date can shift, but to not tell me what the status is completely unacceptable. We waited for the movers all day on the original date and had to scramble to get lodgings each day when we had no additional information.

Summary

I could go on for a long time about the issues, but the takeaway is to avoid this company. They do a poor job at a high cost.

Sorry about the useless photos, couldn't figure out how to delete.

Long-distance move from Newport News, VA to Las Vegas, NV

Don't believe their lies.

This company is not true to their word. I was promised all star service for my move and things seemed ok until moving day. I packed my own belongings and so the responsibility of the movers was just to load what I had packed and wrap and load furniture. To begin with, I was given an arrival window for the movers from 11-2 pm, July 8th, with a call an hour before the movers were To arrive. At 1 pm I had received no notification as to when the movers would arrive so I called customer service. They told me the movers would be calling me shortly. I received a call a few minutes later stating that the movers would be there around 6 pm because they were coming to Virginia from Maryland! We were planning to be driving from Newport News VA to our new home in Las Vegas by that time, unfortunately we did not get on the road until 1030 pm due to this company's poor planning and delivery of services. I was promised to have my belongings within 17 business days from July 10th, our first available delivery date. As of August 2nd (the last day of promised delivery window) and after numerous calls over the last 3 weeks to customer service, I have been told the same thing for every call: my belongings were still in scheduling status, meaning my property is sitting in a warehouse in Virginia with no reason given as to why it took so long, and nobody from customer service can give me any information from dispatch department. At this point I was told that there is a $30 reimbursement for each day they are past the delivery window (this means each business days, which does not include weekends, so I have been waiting in an empty house for 23 days for my belongings to arrive with no end in sight). I was hesitant to hire a moving company at all due to all the horrendous reviews for every company I researched plus my previous experience with another terrible company. Moving nation had the least amount of complaints along with many stellar reviews so I chose them. I now have no faith that this company will hold up their end of the bargain and due to all the fine print written into their contracts I am at their mercy. If my belongings arrive unharmed, without anything missing AND I get the reimbursement promised to me I may reconsider my rating but as of now this company is worth ZERO stars. Save yourself the headache and inconvenience and do not use this company!
Update: As of August 14, 2019 I have still not received my belongings (picked up July 8), nor do I have a definite delivery date. I was told that the truck was loaded with my property on Friday, August 9, 2019, a full week after the last day of promised delivery window, and that the truck would start traveling the next day, Saturday, with someone calling me Monday, the 12th, to give me details on when my stuff would be delivered. I received no call Monday, so I called Tuesday morning. I was told that the driver did not answer and someone would call me back with compensation information along with more information as to where my property is. I was called later with a reimbursement quote of $150 off my balance which I verbally agreed to. Since it has now been 37 days since my move date and I still have no clear answers on when I will receive my things and I was told I would be reimbursed $30 each day my belongings are late, I should have been offered more compensation but what can you do? The fine print says they actually have 30 days. Upon receipt of the paperwork adjusting my final balance of $2130.75 to include the measly $150 compensation, the paperwork stated that if I accepted the compensation I would be unable to write any reviews regarding this company. I chose not to accept the reimbursement due to the fact that this company needs to be exposed for their dishonest practices. I should be allowed to honestly review them without legal action taken against me after such a horrendous and expensive ($6200) move. I still have no idea when I will receive my stuff.
Don't trust this company!

Long-distance move from Ontario, CA to Cartersville, GA

Moving Nation/Sacramento.

Moving from California to Georgia. My first conversation with Mike was pleasant and he seemed efficient and very accommodating. I requested pickup August 2nd and when they called back to schedule my move they could only do the pickup on July 23/24 or August 6th, unless I wanted to pay $600 extra. I chose to move forward with the July 23/24 date. I signed the contract (CA5502797) and was informed I could cancel with a full refund of my deposit, of more than $1000, within 7 days of the pickup. When Lisa called to go over the inventory list 7/16, she informed me right away that my delivery date would cause them to offload and store my belongings spawning additional fees. I reminded her they changed the pickup date to fit their schedule. However, I chose to be flexible to their further inconvenience of changes, to stay within my budget for moving. By the end of this call, my overall price was increased by $1400 and I was informed there may be more charges incurred at the end of the move, at which time they only accept a USPS Money Order or Cash for payment. I asked Lisa, at this time, to cancel the service and refund my money. She said they would not refund my money. I called back the next morning and after incredibly rude, demeaning attitude from Lisa, she provided an email to cancel the service. She assured me, once again, I would NOT receive a refund. They accepted no responsibility for their fraudulent/counterfeit claims and were very rude and condescending when I decided to trust my gut and not move forward with a company showing no integrity in their business practices. I have initiated an investigation to attempt to reclaim my deposit, this experience was unbelievably stressful and discouraging. I had read other reviews (obviously not from CA) and thought this was a trustworthy company.
