Damaged Items

Still have not received repairs for my furniture. Cody, the owner, has not reached to me. Ty, someone in the office, hung up on me after I got upset about being told that Kristen, the office girl, had made an "agreement" with me to receive a "discount" instead of repairing my furniture. This is a blatant lie from Kristen. This so called "discount" was her adjusting the amount due from 1125.00 to 850.00, because she sent 3 guys when I only requested 2, and tried to make me pay for it. The call with Kristen was witnessed by two of the three movers, as the call was on speaker. They both apologized for how she treated ME, and said, "She could have handled this a lot more professional." Those same two guys also said, "We are on your side and this isn't right." I was also told that I would have to fight to get anything done because they have done this to others in the past. Boy, was that ever a true statement! I am attaching 2 new pics of the contract, as they stated in a Google response this morning to my review written 2 weeks ago, that i was offered insurance. No, I was offered "additional" insurance. I have used their service 2x in the past and know they are insured, or I would have never used them the first time. The past 2 times i used them, I didn't have issues and now that I do, well, this is how they treat their customers. I was also informed by one of the movers to NOT sign the final form stating "I inspected all items and find them to be in good/same condition." All damage occurred in the hands of Brad, one of the movers. I witnessed two of the pieces being damaged, and the other piece was brought to my attention by one of the other guys there. That's being honest!!

Second to last paragraph of the contract states, "Helping Hands is only responsible for items in our immediate care." All items damaged were in the hands of Brad, helping hands employee, immediate care.

Second paragraph under "Damages" states, "Our company provides BASIC LIABILITY coverage at $0.60 per pound (standard industry wide) of the item being moved..." Yes, there is additional insurance offered but if you provide basic coverage, then make the repairs as I was told would be done by Kristen.

Conversation was this: I told her I would not pay 1125.00 for 3 movers when I only requested 2. Kristen stated, "We need to settle payment or she would call the police on me for THEFT." I told her to call the police because she was trying to overcharge me for HER sending an additional person. She responded with, "Well, you used 3!" Well, SHE sent 3 and I am not the person who schedules your move jobs so I am not responsible, as the customer, for your mistake. I settled to pay 850.00 AND she stated that she would have "Julie" call me the following week to schedule the repair. When I called to follow up on this statement, I spoke with Ty, who then told me that he would have Julie call me that day. I let a week go by before I reached AGAIN, and was told by Ty that he needed "approval." So now the situation changes...So, yesterday I called to get an update and Ty tells me that Kristen was supposed to call me last week, which she never did. This is where the lie comes into the situation of me "agreeing to a discount instead of repair." Again, this is a LIE and was not part of the phone conversation on 4/14/23. I have 2 witnesses that heard the whole conversation that work for the company.

Official company response

Thanks for taking the time to leave us feedback on your move.

We give all of our clients the opportunity to insure their moves prior to the start. As with anything accidents do happen from time to time. We strive to move everyone with the upmost care and make sure that we offer that added peace of mind before each move that we do just incase. You unfortunately chose not to insure your move.

Even after not insuring your move, the office managers offered you the choice between having someone come out and touch up your items ( even though you purchased zero insurance) or give you a discount off the services rendered.

You chose the discount. So we discounted your move over 250 dollars as a good faith effort to make you whole even though we weren’t obligated to do so.

The .60 cents per pound doesn’t say the item will be repaired in full. It gives you .60 cents per pound of the item if damaged beyond repair/towards a repair. So if the item weighs 20 lbs and gets damaged. You receive 12 dollars towards a repair for that item. You received all of this information prior to the start of your move and you once again decided to not purchase full insurance. Once again we gave you 250.00 off which is way above and beyond what you would’ve got back had we adhered to the contract and the terms there in that you decided to choose before the start of the job.

You’ve used us before many times and we have always done an amazing job. That’s why you called us to move you again. Now that one accident happened and you chose not to insure your move, we are the worst company ever.

Even though we have went above and beyond the terms of the contract and you’re still not happy. So now you are calling and berating our employees.

We don’t care to continue to go back and forth with you. This js why they have decided it’s best that we don’t have any more contact. If we could attach a recording of the last few calls with you we would. Unfortunately we can’t.

Your job took 6.25 hours with a 3 man crew. Having a three man crew also gives you a discount per man per hour for all three movers and actually gets the job done faster and saving you money.

We have taken full accountability for the items and made you whole even though you chose not to insure your move.

Have a wonderful day. Thanks again for choosing us. We appreciate your business

Happy customer.

I will definitely be hiring Helping Hands moving and maids for future moves. They did a great job and were very respectful as they moved us out of the old and into our new place. Chad was amazing with his communication, the movers were a few minutes late, but they communicated and let us know. They also finished early so they more than made up for it.

Loved our experience

We loved our experience with this company. Moving is so incredibly stressful but they alleviated so much of the burden. Eric, Brian, and Alfonso showed up and accommodated our last minute requests We had some oversized things we were worried about but everything got moved smoothly and quickly. Hopefully we never have to move again but if we do, we will definitely use this company again.

Dishonest Lazy Crew.

Do not use this company. They don't protect your furniture with wrap, they don't breakdown your big furniture. They charge by the hour and spend a lot of time smoking and chatting. Then at the end they demand a cash tip. We hired a group of three then halfway through they sent three more, these guys didn't listen and the move went haywire. Stuff is in storage that was supposed to go to home and vis-a-versa. We also witnessed one employee engaged in some very questionable activity outside of storage facility, even the manager of the storage facility commented on how bad the crew was. I am sure we will have some damaged furniture when we move into our new home due to how they packed and stacked it into storage unit without protection. When we called owner, he questioned our integirty. No refund or discount or apology was ever offered. We moved to this home four years ago and used a crew of 2 for half the cost and no damages!

Unprofessional and bad attitude.

They have a very bad attitude and don't have manners to speak with others. As soon as my job was done and when I questioned about the timings, one of the guys started talking all bad words. Really hopeless and bad service. Do not go with them.

We reached out and resolved the issue with him. He mentioned that the service was great except for the issue with one of our employees at the very end. We made it right with this customer and our employee was reprimanded as a result of his poor behavior. Thanks again for your business
