Long-distance move from Pasadena, CA to Baltimore, MD

Stay VERY FAR Away from these guys

I contacted GHL to move my deceased mother's property from California to Maryland. In the beginning they were very attentive. They presented a very attentive and pleasant scenario. I was told me that they ONLY used a select few LICENSED and BONDED, true household moving carriers, and they would be with me every step of the process, protecting my interests and shipment. I agreed to pay MORE for their services because of all the other brokers I contacted they had the best rating on the US DOT FMCSA website with no complaints, (at the moment GHL has 2 complaints from 2021, one of which is mine).

That was where the good service ended. After I paid the deposit, I got very little service. I had to constantly call them to determine if my scheduled pick up date was still happening and as it was, the pick up was a day late. I expected a regular moving company to show up with a truck. What showed up was a beat up used U-Haul box van. There were 2 guys, one of which spoke only Russian, and the other a little English. Right off the bat, they told me that the volume I was quoted, 300 cubic feet was not enough despite having very meticulously listed all the items we were shipping to GHL. When I complained, he told me that the contract I signed with GHL wasn't valid and that I would have to use their contract. He want me to pay, UP FRONT, for an additional 500 CuFt at $4.70 / CuFT, an additional $1175 (beyond the original $653) in cash for the up front half of the cost, (the remaining 50% upon delivery).

I jumped on the phone to GHL and they rudely told me that the volume quotation was based on a very inaccurate DOT website, and that it had only been an estimate and that I should have expected to incur 262% increase in cost. While on the phone, the 1st guy guy left. About 2 hours later, another beat up truck shows up, with 2 more guys who managed to cram my mothers possessions into 450 CuFt, so it only cost me an additional $352 for the extra 150 CuFt, but then they tried to shake me down for the $350 transfer cost because they didn't bring the 18-wheeler. I refuse to pay that. By that time, GHL was not taking my calls on any phone number. That was May 21, 2021. Then my real problems began.

I had to wait until the end of July before I got my shipment. I called GHL every few days, and most of the time they didn't answer, and when they did they either lied to me, saying the shipment was on the way, or that it would be delivered this week. I spent over $400 on a storage unit a month earlier than I needed to because they lied. Finally, sick of their lies, I contacted the FMCSA and filed a complaint only to find out that the FMCSA isn't about consumer protection, but only motor carrier safety, so NO HELP AT ALL. I tracked down the actual company in Los Angeles that picked up my goods and started calling them every other day and was also lied to. They would say my shipment was being loaded today, or on the road but the truck broke down, or would be there on Saturday. They stories was always different, always conflicted with the previous one, and was always a lie.

I contacted the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services about the carrier only to find out that they had only applied for their license the day before they picked up my shipment and was neither licensed or bonded despite the assurances from GHL. In fact, that company had their application denied in October 2021, less than five months after applying. GHL lied in that this company was NEVER licensed for either moving within the state of California, or interstate.

I also contacted the Florida Dept of Consumer Affairs for help only to find out that they couldn't help and that even IF I got a judgement in a FL small claims court, I'd never collect for the same reason OJ Simpson never had to pay.

I wasn't until I call the FBI and filed a complaint about stolen property and then told the carrier, that I was suing them for Interstate Piracy that they finally got my shipment on a truck. But not a moving truck, just a common carrier whose guy was not at all careful. My goods were packed haphazardly and many items were damaged, but because of the length of time had passed since my original contract with GHL, I was unable to file a claim so I cannot get any help.

Bottom line is Global Home Logistics is NOT AT ALL set up to provide any services across the country. They took my money up front and then washed their hands of my shipment. They did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to assist me in getting my shipment delivered and often lied to me about the status. I spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of my own time. I would have been far better off renting a 1-way U-Haul and driving my inheritance across the country myself.

DO NOT USE this company unless you truly enjoy strife, anxiety, pain and heartbreak.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Florida

WORST EXPERIENCE

I recently used Global Home Logistics for a move from NJ to FL and I would NOT recommend them!! The sales rep David seemed great over the phone initially, but as soon as they had my deposit, they were nearly impossible to get in touch with. On the day of the move, an entirely different company showed up. Global Home Logistics had outsourced the move (even though they told me specifically that they would not). The new company was unorganized and uninformed. My original quote was $3,600, but after all my stuff was put onto the truck, I was handed a bill for $8,500. To make matter worse, nearly every high-ticket furniture item on the truck was damaged when it was delivered. I feel so taken advantage of and would not recommend this company to my worst enemy haha! Just buy new stuff and forget the moving vans!

Long-distance move from Lake Oswego, OR to Calais, ME

Was a No Show

Got a price from them to move from Oregon to Maine. Gave the deposit and when it came time to move I had to keep calling to see what day and time they were coming. The final outcome was they never showed up never called, texted or emailed. They would not answer my calls, emails or texts. After being on the phone the next week I let them know I had alerted my credit card company to the fraudulent activity and they got my money back. Do not use them under any circumstance. Dave may sound like a nice guy on the phone but if they can't find another company to move you and make money for doing nothing you will get the same treatment I got.

This Company is a Fraud

I reserved a moving truck in March for a one way move in June. I have all my stuff packed and when it was time for them to show up they never showed up and didn't call or anything.

When I called them they made excuses about coming. Stated that they had a broken axel.

We looked up the company on the i internet stating is this company ac fraudsters. There were several reviews stating how this company was a fraud.

Don't hire this company you'll lose your money.

Long-distance move from North Las Vegas, NV to Cincinnati, OH

Absolutely worst experience ever

This company is a scam we payed our Deposit and coincidentally a couple days later there was some fraudulent activity on the same card that was used to pay the deposit after calling to follow up with our move we kept being passed around and could not find our reservation for the move. It was crazy no one had any information. The day Before our move we were told someone would call us to confirm a ETA no one ended up calling us and the day of our move we were scrambling around trying to contact the company for a ETA on our delivery truck. Finally we were told that no one was available for the day that they would be coming out the next day. We received a call from a guy Who claimed he was our driver and stated he was going to be arriving in 10 minutes which turned out to be an hour later. Once he arrived he Did a walk-through again even though we already did a Final inventory check and said that we were over our cubic feet that we were originally quoted and said that he would need to contact his manager to see how much more it would cost us for extra room on the truck the price doubled from what we were originally quoted and was told that if we don’t pay that price he would not be able to move forward with our scheduled move. We are now stuck with a house full of packed boxes and having to be out of the property by tomorrow. Now we are looking for new movers and trying to get our deposit back! This is a nightmare I do not recommend this company and they must be reported to Better Bureau Business !

Excellent company and group of people to work with!

Mark, the guy in the office, was super nice and set us up with a 3 man crew and a truck with less than a week's notice. They were super hard working and professional. They had a lot of stairs to contend with and they made it look easy! I would recommend them to anyone looking for a seamless move.

These movers were great

Well, this couldn't have gone better as the first experience with a moving company. The movers handled my quote, and gave me an extremely reasonable flat rate price, it was reasonable, because I got a lot of expensive quotes, and read a lot of reviews before deciding on these movers.

They are great guys!

A friend recommended them to me. I called the movers Friday and they moved me Saturday. Everyone was professional and highly competent. It wasn't cheap, but it was a great value. They were absolutely great. They packed up and move my apartment from Florida to Alabama really quickly and professionally.

Thumbs up for the best movers in town

Shifting gives me anxiety. I was worried packing them in the box with other items. I booked these movers as I have heard many good things about them. The workers from the company packed it efficiently and moved all the other stuff too promptly. I am happy and would love to use the movers for all my future moves.
