CM Relocation

Moving some (non-furniture) personal possessions from Singapore to UK, approx 13 boxes. Chap who visited for survey seemed professional. Took over 4 months door to door, cannot honestly say how much of that delay was down to the relocator, clearly there are global freight problems, although time was far in excess of estimated timeframe. C M Locators have 100% their charge over this time, so no concern to them. Although timeframe is far the lesser of our issues... We expressed a preference to pack our own belongings for collection. Advised, however, they prefer and strongly recommend to use their packers, who are quick and skilled and charged at reasonable cost (not ascertainable as charged an inclusive cost). In any case, cost was not the reason for our preference. Possibly our experience would have been better if we had been moving an entire house rather than selected possessions?...NB: we reduced the volume of items to be transported following initial estimate, due to prohibitively high cost (latter could be for reasons partly or wholly outside the control of C M Locators). When the 2 packers came they basically just blitzed through at breakneck speed, throwing items into boxes with no consideration to what condition the items with be in at unpack stage.... heavy items on top of fragiles, valued items stuffed into spaces, pieces of paper chucked in now and then for good effect but not offering any protection. Speed is king. One packer was clearly better [at packing] then the other but they worked independently in different rooms. When I noted with some alarm the way clothing was being packed...it was being removed from wardrobes in bundles and stuffed into boxes, hangers intact, I asked them to take more care. It all happened so quickly, they were gone almost before we knew it. By the time I was asked to sign the 'Order' form, the boxes had already been taken away. We immediately regretted not insisted on packing ourselves. But we also knew we now had no spare time before our departure from Sg. Nevertheless, damage limitation, we requested the boxes to be returned for us to at least repack the clothing. Despite cancelling last minute our precious evening plans we didn't have time to check and repack everything by that late stage or we would have done so. Once the boxes were returned we received no apology or explanation just a phone call in due course from a very rude lady to arrange recollection. We are now unpacking in UK. No problems whatsoever with delivery UK end (a company called Box Chain, who I assume are sub-contracted). I have no idea whether the packers were also sub contracted. It is heart breaking. It would be preferable to never see our belongings again that receive them back in this state, and have to painstakingly sort and discard. Worse than we could have imagined. Inconceivable that anyone could consider the household items appropriately packed. A child would have packed better. Don't normally write reviews but feel should warn others... If you choose to use this company, do your own packing.

Our move to Australia was managed by CM -- and it was a disaster for us. They charge top dollars, but service is non-existent. Completely uncommunicative after they've received the full payment upfront, getting information out of them was difficult to say the least. Our shipment was hit with multiple delays - some explainable and some due to incompetence of the staff. We're still waiting to get our shipment, many months after we shipped. I wish I had followed the advise of the other review here and avoided them.
