Extremely unprofessional and unethical

I hired this company for an international move and initially thought everything was going well. We specifically asked for insurance both verbally and in writing, assuming that this critical detail was taken care of.

However, when we received our invoice, the insurance wasn't listed. We reached out immediately to have this corrected and to ensure our items were insured, but our requests were ignored. This oversight became a significant issue when our shipment arrived damaged, and we found out that no insurance had been applied despite our clear instructions.

The company's response was disappointing and frustrating. They offered various excuses, shifting the blame onto us at every turn. They claimed we didn't specify our need for insurance adequately, accused us of misunderstanding their insurance process, and even suggested we lacked basic knowledge of international moves, which is ironic given that we hired them as the experts.

When they eventually attributed the damage to customs and external factors, citing that for this reason, they could not honor our claim. This felt like a cop-out, a way to avoid taking responsibility for their mistake. Their series of excuses seemed dishonest and aimed at deflecting blame. I strongly believe that they were aware of this mistake and were doing everything they could to avoid taking responsibility.

Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this company. They are dishonest, unethical, and avoided accountability with misleading justifications, and ultimately failed to provide the basic service we hired them for. Their approach to handling the situation was unprofessional and unreliable. I advise avoided them at all costs.

Dissatisfied overall, recommend you look elsewhere

We hired Brytor for an international move in summer 2023 and the process proved more expensive, longer and more stressful than we were lead to believe. Twice we were presented with significant additional charges with no notice or explanation and we were constantly having to chase after our move coordinator for information on the status of our shipment. They're estimated 4-6 week delivery time ended up being 3 months.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $15000

Official company response

Dear Snow,

We understand the frustration caused by the delays in your shipment. While we take full responsibility for ensuring your shipment arrives safely, unfortunately, unforeseen challenges with shipping line availability and capacity can cause delays.
It’s important to emphasize that due to our dependence on shipping lines, we can't guarantee specific dates and times. However, we always strive to provide the most accurate estimates possible and keep you updated throughout the process.

Sincerely,

Excellent coordination, amazing packing and delivered on time

These folks are amazing. From the time they had sent the team in Houston for packing to the delivery in Calgary Canada- everything was coordinated perfectly and there was no damage to any items. All items were delivered before the expected time and we were informed about the timings on a regular basis. The price was way less expensive than any other movers that I had researched. If you need a perfect move - go with Brytor. Highly recommend them to anyone making short or long moves and even to a different country.

Want to give zero stars. Terrible experience

Packers did a great job but there it ends. The rest of our experience has been a nightmare. We left Canada to return to the UK as my mum was unwell. Once we had left we were advised that our shipment volume was 35% more than estimated and that they wouldn't arrange a container till we paid. They would not justify the several different measures and costs they sent us. We felt we had no choice but to pay as they had everything we owned including paintings by my late father. They then reminded us about insurance but sent no policy. Final straw was they said we hadn't given them a destination till after they packed though we sent proof that we sent it early the month before. This was followed by the appointment of an English partner six hours from here who charged us £750 more to deliver our possessions stating this was because they could not get a 40 foot container to the door so we needed to pay for trucks. How many addresses can a 40ft container easily park outside without causing chaos. The men who delivered our things were generally rude and moany. We challenged this extra charge but were advised by a manager to pay then raise a claim. They didn't respond fully to our complaint and only partly did so when we complained to a central body. We experienced poor Comms with emails about us sent to us in error and emails about other customers also sent to us despite my flagging this breach. I initially wrote a glowing review as the packers were great but for the first time in my life l took it down. Again writing a negative review is a first for me but this has really upset us and cost us a lot of money beyond the initial quote. An awful experience at an already stressful time. To avoid. Wish we had read the reviews more widely. Seen other examples of excessive charging.

Avoid, as simple as that

We should have read more reviews before we agreed to contract with Brytor, we would have avoided all the misery and extra 'costs' that followed for our trans Atlantic move.

Initial experiences through the planning and packing activities were good. However, the moment they had all of our possessions and we flew out of Canada, the problems started.  We were told the volume of our possessions was 35% higher than estimated driving our costs up in proportion.   We challenged the number, and they could not and would not justify it, they even offered a detailed breakdown of a 10% increase but insisted we pay 35% more.  They refused to discuss and frequently stopped communicating.  1 month after we left, we 'settled' by paying an additional 20% to release our possessions.   We felt like we had paid a ransom demand.  We chose to buy transit insurance but struggled to get any details of what it covered or even confirmation that we were insured, 8 weeks after packing, our container was shipped to the UK.   At this point, we were told that there would be additional costs to deliver our possessions, as the quote assumed a truck could deliver the 40ft container directly to our front door.  We had never been asked about this or had this explained. It was unreasonable to make this assumption, however true to form Brytor accepted no responsibility for the issue and made us pay a large sum of money before they would collect it from the port. It was made clear that if we didn't pay we would be charged storage at the port on a daily rate.  We paid, as we had no choice, and our items were delivered by an inadequate team who constantly complained (too cold, too wet, too much stuff, too heavy etc).  I ended up carrying a lot of the items myself.

We got our stuff eventually, after a slow and painful process, with costs that grew significantly,  no meaningful customer service and very poor communication.   We made a formal complaint afterwards, but unsurprisingly, it was dismissed. Looking at other reviews, we are far from alone, and our experience is far from the worst. Avoid.

Official company response

Dear Kevin,
We fully understand the difficulties you faced during the delivery, particularly regarding the additional cost due to unforeseen location complexities that led to a necessary change in the initial plan.
While we strive to anticipate all potential obstacles, It is important to note that some additional costs related to difficult access or unforeseen obstacles during the delivery process are ultimately the responsibility of the customer, as stated in our terms and conditions.
We value your feedback and appreciate your understanding.
Sincerely.

Avoid these clowns!

We used Brytor to move to the UK. Their estimators and movers are very professional and courteous. That's where it ends.

They misrepresented the actual space we were quoted and ended up with less. Then the delivery time went from 8 weeks to almost 4 months. After that, it was a bunch of fake extra charges that needed to be paid before we got our items.

When we finally got our items, the one that was missing was to be shipped later. Then that never happened. Then we were offered less than a 1/3 of the replacement value for compensation. Now they ignore the emails and we are still out the item.

If you need to escape Canada, stay away from these clowns.

Do Not Use This Company

I engaged Brytor to relocate from Canada to Isle of Man. Mouhcine the initial contact person was very helpful and courteous. The team who came to pack up our things said everything would fit. When they had all of our things packed and taken away I was told we would need a larger container and it would cost and extra $5000. Taking the total to $27,000 including the $4000 "insurance" premium. Original estimate was 6 weeks but it ended up taking 4 months. On the day of delivery it was clear the was a problem, boxes missing and some damage. I completed the frustratingly complex claim forms and returned them on time. The first person dealing with our claim couldn't speak English and the emails were just gibberish. Our claim was then transferred to Liliane, an English speaker. She would need a week to review the claim. After a week she needed a few more days, then a few more days, and then a few more. This went on for a few more weeks. Then she stopped responding completely. I have tried several times but it appears she has put a block on my email. I tried Mouhcine again since he was so helpful at the outset but he can do nothing.

Stay away from these bandits. They break, lose, and steal.

Do not use this company you will regret it....

I have sent an email to Brytor (3 email adress) almost 3 weeks ago now and no response...

I have to say I am not impressed at all with the level of service I have received from IMS (Brytor international).

We agreed with ***** for a dedicated container because we did not want to have delays at the customs with the material from another person in the same container.

Both me and HR Director understood the same thing about the dedicated container. We were sent a proposal with the Term < Groupage > in it, either me or my colleague knew what it meant. I discovered the meaning of this on December 22nd 2022. The evaluation of the volume was made by their service to 19 cubic meters, In the contract We were charged 190$/cubic meter. After pickup your company sent an adjustment for an extra 5 cubic meters at 500$/cubic meter. (I have seen another customer stating the same thing in his review). From the container pictures you sent, it was filed to 2/3 of the space. A 20 feet container has about 30 cubic meters of space, so the estimated 19 cubic meter was not far from reality. And I might add that their receiving agent threated this as a 19 cubic meter package. For the Pickup on November 16th 2022. The team of 4 persons that was sent to my residence was composed of 2 semi experienced person and 2 everything but experienced persons. One of the 2 did not speak French or English, they needed to be told how to do everything all the times…. The process lasted 9.5 hours…. Some of my furniture were damage going out of my residence by these 2 unexperimented persons. When I saw your employee file the inventory in French, I told him that it would be better in English for the German customs. He said that there was no problem and that they would deal with it and in any case none of them was able to speak more then a couple of words in English… I supplied him with my inventory of the 71 boxes I had filled up. He used my inventory (taking one word from the list) to fill out his inventory without making any correspondence to my inventory box numbers.

After many discussions the contract is modified to dedicated container. The boat left Montreal on January 20nd 2023, estimated arrival February 6th Bremerhaven. On February 1st 2023, a Brytor employee started to send me documents request for the German customs. On February 2nd 2023 she ask me to supply the inventory list…. I almost fell off my chair. How is it possible that you send a container without any inventory…. How can I possibly have that inventory list made by your employees. She asks me to make the inventory list and to put a value beside every item…. How can I do that when I have no clue on what is inside the box because your employee did not make any correspondence with my inventory list. I was in no way comfortable with this, this was the equivalent of making a false declaration to German customs since I had no clue of the content. So the Brytor employee sent me the list made by your employe. It was handwritten and in French. I translated it and inscribed it on official inventory forms from Brytor. Even this makes me uncomfortable to fill an inventory not knowing what the items was and putting my signature at the bottom of the page as if I packed everything myself…. You know this thing about false declarations, I believe it is not a good practice to try that with the Germans… Your employee even labelled 2 items as divers…. After this you asked me to say what is in those boxes and put a value beside it….

All these things make me wonder if you have ever done this operation…. So, because of all these errors made by your employees, there are additional charges from customs, the port and warehouse. You sent us the bill, Brytor should at least take responsibilities for the mistakes of its employees.

the receiving agent was told by Brytor that we were responsible for the extra charge..... This is the definition of a door to door contract at Brytor.

Your company used my belonging as a hostage... you pay or we don’t deliver…. The experience with Brytor International was very painful and frustrating the lack of professionalism is astonishing. You could have at least assumed the responsibilities of your actions or I might say lack of actions. All these extra charges should’ve never been sent to us; we are not responsible for the mistakes of your employees. We bought a door-to-door service and had to pay a lot in extra charges due to the incompetence of your employees. Finally received my belongings on March 15th, almost 4 months after pickup. I spent 6 weeks camping in an empty apartment where I bought the minimum to be able to function… The apartment was available for delivery from December 21st , 2022.

And now I have to deal with the damaged furniture’s….

If we gave this level of service to our customer, we would be out of business.

Regards.

Moving overseas

I moved back to the UK and had about 10 boxes to relocate with me.

I contacted several companies for quotes and decided to use Brytor as they were very competitively priced. After speaking to them I was happy with how they communicated their process, plus I went to their office and they showed me where my belongings would be stored before being put in a container. When the day for pickup came they contacted me to advise they were en route. They were able to advise me when and where the boxes were and once received in the UK the delivering company was great too.

The easiest and fastest move from Vancouver to Sydney

I contacted several companies for a quote and Brytor not only gave me the best price but also LCL shipping instead of Group shipping. I decided to take a leap and have not regretted it a single bit. They answered all my questions on the phone, the company followed up and kept me informed every single step of the process. So while my friends shipping took 5.6 months with 7Seas company from the same location (Vancouver to Sydney), Brytor delivery came to Sydney within 1.5 months. Just amazing customer service! Thank you guys so much!
