Long-distance move from Palm City, FL to Opp, AL

Never use alliance movers

Never use alliance Movers, they are liars and cheaters. They gave me a quote to move my three bedroom home with a 26 foot truck to go from Florida to Alabama. They told me the same men that load the truck will unload the truck. Then they called me And told me they wanted to start my job around 4 PM. I told him there is no way they’re going to start my packing and loading my three bedroom house at 4 PM and I wanted to reschedule for earlier during the day. Then at 3 PM a huge truck showed up that already had another Houses furniture in it to be delivered to Virginia on the way to my delivery in Alabama . they then tried to charge me more money than our agreement because I had glass top tables which they knew about when they gave me the original quote. Only after I threw the driver out of my house did the company call me and offer to send me a single truck just for my job during the daytime as originally promised. but then it was too late. I already did not trust them and happily walked away from my 10% deposit and hired another moving company.

Every single person I spoke to at the company, had lied to me on that day

Criminal (Fraudulent) Behavior

Yes, this is a one-star rating and, yes, Alliance Movers are terrible movers and liars. But, my biggest caution to any of you reading this is their criminal behavior. When I write “criminal”, I mean I have concluded they are guilty of actual, intentional fraud.

We contracted Alliance Movers and, shame on me, failed to first research their horrific Yelp ratings or their solid “F” rating from the Better Business Bureau. I found out too late and am now in the same boat as their other victims.

Zack M., Larry, Lily M., Nancy A., and Julia (the manager) are all extremely rude. All of them lied at least once, except for perhaps Julia, who may or may not have been lying about their customer service policies. I would need for someone at their office to actually call me back to confirm that one way or the other.

Highlights:

- They breached their own contract by failing to arrive in their own pickup window.

- They performed a bait-and-switch maneuver on me. Zack M. (the driver) said Larry didn’t know what he was talking about when we originally contracted $2,900 for 300 cubic feet. He said they needed to retire Larry. Zack said we’d need to move 600 cubic feet instead, for $6,240.

- They committed fraud by charging me to move 600 cubic feet of household goods, which I later measured to only be 185 cubic feet total.

- Larry, Zack M., and Lily M. lied and breached the contract by promising me a special TV shipping box. Zack M. (the driver) refused to honor the contract, even when Lily M. (a manager) told him over the phone he would. Instead, he wrapped our large flatscreen television in a blanket. The TV was, of course, smashed in the shipment. When I later brought this up with Nancy A, she acknowledged they breached the contract, but refused to do anything about it. Instead, she told me to file a claim with the rest of the furniture they’d damaged or destroyed (which was nearly all of it).

- They charged me a meaningless “bulky” fee for two items: a table and an armoire. Nancy A. admitted this fee did not go to any additional manpower or packaging for large items. I determined it was just an excuse to pocket an extra $600...especially since they damaged every side of the armoire and completely destroyed the table. To be fair, they did later refund $300 for the table since Zack had lied that it was a bulky item.

- But, for that refund above, Nancy A. refused to put it in writing. And, in fact, she later lied and, instead, doubled-charged me an extra $600. Nancy would not answer my call to discuss, so I talked to the manager, Julia. She later told me I’d been accidentally double-charged instead of refunded. Later on, Nancy would lie yet again that “my manager gave you a Discount [sic] of $600”, when, in fact, I was just trying to get her to honor the refund she’d promised in the first place. It was definitely convenient for Alliance Movers that they didn’t put any of it in writing.

- Alliance Movers breached their contract by refusing to re-assemble any of the furniture they’d taken apart

- Alliance Movers breached their contract by refusing to place the furniture. Their contract says the first flight of stairs is supposed to be free. Instead, I have a large, damaged armoire sitting by the front door. This is further evidence of the point above that Alliance Movers takes $300 for “bulky” furniture and just pockets the money.

- As I tried to discuss all these failures above, Nancy lied that she could no longer talk to me, because their contract was with my wife…even though I signed the contract and forms (my wife made the original phone call).

- Of the 23 boxes they were paid to deliver, all 23 were damaged. Of those, 14 were significantly damaged.

- Of the 18 pieces of furniture they were paid to deliver, 14 were either damaged, lost, or completely destroyed.

- They failed to properly tag about half of my items.

- Observation: After about 15 moves in my life, much of the damage to the boxes above looked to me to be intentional (I’m guessing due to the argument I had with Zack M. and Lily M.). Most box damage I’ve seen comes from scrapes and drops, with dinged corners or scratches. Here, the severe accordion-like damage looks to me like they were thrown and/or crushed.

To date: Larry has yet to return our calls (left him three messages). Lily M. has not called me back as she promised. Nancy A. has not called me back to address the fraudulent moving charge for 600 cubic feet, their breach of contract to re-assemble furniture, their breach of contract to place the furniture for free, the breach of contract for the TV box, or their breach of contract to pick up my items in the agreed upon window.

Horrible moving service

I wish I could give this company 0 stars. My first mistake was going with a moving company that basically used a ripped off Avengers logo. Movers were late picking up in the time frame provided. They knew they were not going to make it within the time frame yet waited until after the time to call to say they'd be there an hour late. The workers rushed to move things out to the truck, dropping boxes, and not being careful with things including ripping the plastic wrapping to my mattress which I later found dirt stains because of this. Then, they try to be savvy and have their delivery date as the first possible date. It took them all the way up to the 21 day mark to deliver my items. All of which I had no clue when my items were going to be delivered. I had to call every week for updates to even find out that my items were finally on the way to me-they never even thought to call to notify me. Through one of these times they finally told me my items were in storage in Florida when they never even mentioned if it was a temperature controlled area or how they were kept. I made sure to notify them before my items were even on a truck that an 18-wheeler was not allowed on the street. Yet the driver had no clue and I had to pay an additional fee since they had to carry things from outside of the street to my house. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY

Long-distance move from Lexington, NC to Henderson, NV

I Lost Thousands of $$$ Using this Company!

I am taking the time to submit this review in hopes that I will save someone from an experience like I had with Alliance Movers.

My girlfriend, Lex, and I used Alliance Movers to move some of our belongings from NC to NV. When the movers arrived at our home they immediately changed the amount we owed them to move our things. They blamed one of their employees, and said he shouldn’t have quoted us that price. Lex and I were due in Vegas so our hands were tied and I didn’t have any other option but to pay them the higher price. This is only the beginning.

The company told us our things would be delivered in NV between 10-14 days. 15 days later we had zero confirmation that our things had even left NC. The customer service representative, Nancy, had little to no info and handled our move with little to no care.

Long after we were told our stuff would arrive a truck finally came. This is where things got really bad. You see, not all of our items made it. I was totally heartbroken to find out some of my precious musical instruments were not on the truck. My Martin Acoustic Guitar, Gibson Dobro, and Fender Hot Rod Deville 212 Amplifier were somehow misplaced.

I contacted Nancy about this situation several times and she literally didn’t even apologize or even seem apologetic that her company had negligently handled our move. I have filed a claim with their insurance, submitted police reports, and now I am making sure that the public knows how this company operates.

I am just sickened that my instruments are gone. I paid thousands to make this move and lost thousands more from my items being lost or stolen. Please reconsider if you are considering using this company.

Long-distance move from Atlanta, GA to Boston, MA

You Get What You Pay For

When I first contacted Alliance Movers about my cross-country move, it was not explained to me by Larry that the date that you give them is not a guaranteed delivery date, but rather a “first available” date for when they MIGHT deliver, but contractually they are only obligated to deliver after 21 business days after the first available date. This was much to my surprise when I was called to ask if they had an ETA for when my stuff might come and they could not even give me an estimated date and that my stuff was still in storage in Atlanta. Not wanting to stay in an empty apartment, I decided to go home to my parent’s house when the very next day I get a call out of the blue from the truck driver saying he was an hour away from delivery. Thankfully I was able to get back in time to have them drop off my stuff that day but the whiplash and lack of communication from the company caused me much stress. In addition to this, they were a day late picking up my stuff in Atlanta and dropping off they lost an important part of my bed frame. Communication from the dispatch office was very poor as well. I felt myself having to call them throughout the process to find out the next steps because I had no idea what was going to happen and if I didn’t call to ask nothing was going to happen. The only thing keeping me from giving 1 star are the actual movers. Both picking up and dropping off the moving crews were professional and did some hard work. Basically if you are looking to save money and are fine with Alliance holding your stuff hostage for up to 3 weeks, go ahead and book with them. If you are actually looking to get your stuff where you need it on-time, find a better moving company.

Nice people, bad movers

Let me say that all the people are very nice. But, Even though we went room by room for the estimate it was off by was off by half. The truck they sent was to small so we ended up giving things away. The buyers were closing the next day and we were stuck. The cost was almost double the original estimate. Cash mostly up front. After that fiasco was done, we found out that our items were going to be moved to another truck for holding. We had a delivery date of 21 days. What that really means is 21 days later they will contact you for a delivery day sometime coming up. Could be 3 days could be 2 weeks. Our delivery date was roughly 2 weeks from the 21 days. When items arrived we found out that our things had been moved not one time but 2 additional times to other trucks. Amazingly everything arrived. We were glad. But everything and I mean everything was cracked, scratched, broken and damaged. We were asked to file for damages. We did not understand the method used to apply for insurance, but basically what it means is, if you don't buy additional insurance, you get paid pennies on the dollar for your damaged items. We had several items that were valuable and only got around 400. Very bad. So even though the folks are nice, the movers try, it still resulted in us paying upwards of 10,000 to move not including major damage to our heirloom dining table and chairs. Not happy with the end result. I don't know how to move to another state if you aren't able to do it yourself, this was expensive and not a good experience.

Do not use this company

The movers showed up to get my things and everything went well. My actual space was more than the estimate so we settled the differences with no problem. So far, so good, no issues. I gave them a 12/1 ready date, and here we are on 12/19, and my furniture is still in storage with no word on when the truck will be coming west. They are long on promises but short on delivery. You'd think for the price paid the service would be better.

Great movers!

Great movers and precise. I would highly recommend their service and I will definitely call them for my next move. I had to ask for a 8 am pickup since my new apartment didn't open until 11 am so I can get the keys on move in a day. Alliance Movers was able to accommodate my schedule and showed up on time as scheduled. The team worked quickly, carefully and efficiently. My biggest concern was moving my big screen TV. The movers covered up all furniture and electronics perfectly for the move and handled them with care. Everything made it to my new apartment without issues and they were quick to put my furniture back together. Thank you very much!

Do Not Use.

I have been in a sales role for quite some time that is heavily involved in customer service, so I try to always make it as easy as I can to do business with someone, because I know how stressful it can be. I spoke with Rich over the phone and gave him the exact breakdown of how many pounds we would be packing, how many boxes, furniture, pictures from zillow, etc. Because I wanted to make sure there were no surprises on my end that would disrupt the move. I discussed in detail with him how I needed to move out on a particular date, Monday, because we closing on Tuesday. I told him we could move in either Tuesday or Wednesday. Rich said "no problem" and proceeded to discuss how the two day delivery window was good for the drivers in case they ran into trouble with hours on the road and they would just plan to Pickup Monday, and Deliver Wednesday. When the first two quotes came back to me, this information was correct. Well Monday comes and no movers arrive. I called Rich only to hear him say, "Now how did that happen?" Under his breath on the phone, when looking at the pickup date. He then told me, "I'm working on it" and that he would call me back. I told him we could still use Alliance as long as they could pick up Tuesday morning and be out of the house before closing which was 11:00 am. He said again, "I'm working on it" it gets later and later in the day, with no word from Rich at all so at this point My Wife and I make an emergency run to UHAUL and pick up two of their largest trucks and called as many people as we could and had them come and help. It's now 4:30 and still have not heard back from Rich so I texted him and told him what we had to do. He then erupts on me and says that everything they have done is within their contract that I requested and that movers would be there Tuesday between 9 and 11 (again we close at 11). I told him there was no point the trucks were almost loaded. He blows up again and says that I wont be getting my 1100 dollar deposit back even after admitting fault through both phone and text, that they had messed up the pick date. This was a very rough experience for myself and my family both financially and physically. If they need the 1100 from my deposit that bad they can keep it but between my reviews online and my complaints to the BBB I promise this episode will cost them much, much, more. Like I said, When I screw up I take responsibility for my mistakes, I am not unreasonable, if they had just communicated with me properly, we could have worked this out even with the pick date blunder. If the owner wants to reach out to me I don't even mind splitting the 1100 deposit because they did dispatch a truck with workers on it on my behalf and those people need to be compensated, but if not I will have to proceed with my reviews and complaints so that no one else will have to lose money on a company that does not stand by their service.

Hope everyone has a great day.
